Aerodynamics Engineer
About the Company: ANAVIA specializes in the design, development & manufacturing of vertical takeoff & landing (VTOL) systems of up to 500 kilograms. The company offers industry‑leading unmanned helicopter systems for various mission profiles, such as Surveillance & Reconnaissance, Inspection or Mapping & Cargo.
As an Aerodynamics Engineer you will be responsible for creating new aerodynamic profiles in CAD, analysing and optimizing the aerodynamic performance of unmanned helicopter systems. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure that design and operational requirements are met, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the aircraft.
Responsibilities
Conduct aerodynamic analyses of unmanned helicopter designs using CFD and wind tunnel testing to assess performance under various flight conditions.
Collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop and refine helicopter designs that optimize aerodynamic efficiency, stability, and control.
Evaluate flight performance metrics, such as lift, drag, and maneuverability, and provide recommendations for design improvements based on analytical findings.
Create and maintain aerodynamic models for simulation and analysis, ensuring they accurately represent the helicopter’s performance characteristics.
Prepare detailed reports and documentation on aerodynamic analyses, including findings, recommendations, and technical specifications for internal and regulatory review.
Work with multi‑disciplinary teams, including structural engineers, control engineers, and system designers, to ensure integrated performance of the unmanned helicopter systems.
Stay updated on advancements in aerodynamics and related technologies, incorporating best practices and innovative approaches into design processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
Proven experience in aerodynamics analysis and design, preferably in the aerospace industry.
Strong understanding of aerodynamics principles, fluid dynamics, and flight mechanics.
Proficiency in CFD software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM) and other simulation tools.
Very good communication skills; high social skills and strong analytical and technical understanding.
