* Build strong relationships with The National Archives’ commercial teams, understand the products and customer environment and identify marketing requirements and objectives.* Understand existing and potential customers by building personal networks, carrying out or commissioning market and customer research and collating existing sales and marketing data.* Identify and grow new markets and audiences for The National Archives’ products in the business, academic and cultural sectors.* Liaise regularly with external commercial partners to support their marketing delivery plans and pillars for product launches and ongoing promotion.* Work with external consultants to develop and execute new commercial projects as needed.* Develop cost-effective marketing strategies for existing and new products and for customer acquisition and retention.* Produce marketing strategies for key products and services to meet overall objectives set by Marketing Manager and commercial teams.* Work with Research, Grants and Academic Engagement on marketing and communications for strategic initiatives, including events and conferences, social media and digital engagement (e.g. video)* Work with the Image Library team on the Image Library’s website to ensure content is updated regularly and marketed effectively.* Lead and advise on marketing to support our new brand licensing initiative.* With the Marketing Manager, devise a longer-term strategy to build The National Archives’ capacity for commercial marketing, e.g. improving data platform, raising profile in key markets, developing tools and skills in-house.* Plan, prioritise and organise resources. Prepare budget plans and evaluation reports for the Marketing Manager.* Create audience appropriate multi-channel content including social media, email newsletters, website, print, and onsite touchpoints.* Plan and deliver campaigns on time and to budget, coordinating effectively with functions across The National Archives.* Use a range of marketing channels and techniques including email, direct mail, events, displays and print materials, social media and e-marketing, advertising etc.* Ensure commercial marketing is of consistently high quality and follows The National Archives’ brand. Ensure all marketing outputs adhere to visual identity and editorial guidelines.* Pull together and lead interdisciplinary project teams, communicate and negotiate effectively with colleagues and suppliers.* Proactively contribute to the development of the team and its role in the organisation. This will include working with colleagues to share knowledge and advice and representing the team at meetings with other departments and project teams, establishing credibility and trust.* Contribute towards the development and delivery of the wider Marketing and Communications strategy.* Set targets for campaigns, monitor performance and report back on results to the business owners and wider marketing team.* Experience of business-to-business marketing and/or launching new products or commercial initiatives* Hands-on experience of developing and managing successful multi-channel marketing campaigns from start to finish (including multimedia, email and social media)* Excellent written English, with versatile copy editing skills* Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills, experience of working in and leading project teams, presenting and influencing* Excellent organisational and project management skills, can work flexibly, think creatively to solve problems, and demonstrate sound judgement* Numerate and able to interpret data and statistics, proficient in Excel and database use* Experience of marketing in design, academic or image library sectors* Experience of design, brand management and corporate identity* Knowledge of the cultural sector; interest in history and archive sector* Understanding of marketing in public sector context* Build strong relationships with audience-focused teams within The National Archives, partnering with them to set and achieve marketing goals. Work collaboratively with other teams (e.g. Events and Exhibitions, Digital Services, Collections Expertise and Engagement, Education and Outreach) to achieve goals.* Identify and grow new markets and audiences for The National Archives’ products and initiatives in the business, academic and cultural sectors.* Pull together and lead interdisciplinary, cross-departmental project teams, communicate and negotiate effectively with colleagues and suppliers.* Plan and deliver campaigns on time and to budget, coordinating effectively with functions across The National Archives.* Use a range of marketing channels and techniques including digital and social media advertising, displays and print materials, social media and email marketing* Ensure marketing is of consistently high quality and consistent with The National Archives’ brand and editorial guidelines. Develop design solutions for new initiatives which strengthen the integrity of The National Archives’ visual identity.* Lead and contribute to specific Marketing or Public Engagement projects (e.g. programming) as required.* Proactively contribute to the development of the team and its role in the organisation. This will include working with colleagues to share knowledge and advice, and representing the team at meetings with other departments and project teams, establishing credibility and trust.* Contribute towards the development and delivery of the Marketing team strategy.* Commercially aware, experience of commissioning and managing suppliers, working to budget and setting and meeting targets* Hands-on experience of developing and managing successful multi-channel marketing campaigns from start to finish (including multimedia, email and social media) – especially to promote events and other cultural programming* Excellent written English, with versatile copy editing skills* Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills, experience of working in and leading project teams, presenting and influencing* Excellent organisational and project management skills, can work flexibly, think creatively to solve problems, and demonstrate sound judgement* Experience of design, brand management and corporate identity* Hands-on experience of digital advertising, especially Meta and/or e-commerce advertising* Knowledge of the cultural sector; interest in history and archive sector; understanding of marketing in public sector context
