Overview
This is a contract until 31 March 2028 starting no later than July 2026 with strong chance of extension (up to five years) based in Basel, Switzerland, with 50% home office offered.
The successful candidate will work with various business areas (e.g., Risk, Finance, Front/Middle/Back Office) to support them in this transition. The Business Analyst (BA) should be able to liaise with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements and propose solutions that fit business needs. They should understand Java code, SQL scripts, and how databases work.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with business areas to understand their data needs and requirements.
* Define requirements for data products, including table schemas, in collaboration with business stakeholders.
* Design data models that meet business requirements and support efficient data retrieval and analysis.
* Assist in the creation of data workloads such as reports, queries, spreadsheets, and dashboards in the new data lakehouse platform.
* Develop and execute test plans to ensure accuracy and completeness.
* Write and optimise SQL queries to support the creation and validation of data workloads.
* Document processes, data models, and any changes to business workflows.
* Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data management.
Requirements
* 7+ years of total experience as a Business Analyst/Developer/Data Analyst, etc.
* Proven experience as a Business Analyst in data projects, within financial services or a similar industry.
* Deep understanding of business areas such as Middle Office, Risk, and Finance, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
* Proficiency in SQL, with the ability to write and optimise complex queries.
* Strong experience in data modelling, including the design of table schemas and data structures.
* Knowledge of Object-Oriented Languages (e.g., Java) is a nice to have.
* Fluency in English is mandatory.
* Familiarity with data platforms and modern data architecture principles.
* Proactive approach and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
