The Deputy Senior IT System Engineer is co-responsible for managing and mentoring the Compute Team while driving strategic infrastructure initiatives to ensure a robust and future-proof computing environment. By fostering collaboration across IT functions and continuously exploring modernization opportunities, including cloud and automation, the Senior IT System Engineer ensures operational excellence and technological innovation.
How you’ll make impact
Deputy Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the Compute Team, ensuring effective planning, structured communication, and professional development.
Strategic Vision: Define and implement a visionary roadmap and architecture for the "Computing" domain, aligning with organizational goals and emerging technologies and IT trends.
Technical Oversight: Ensure effective operation, support, and development of all services in your domain through appropriate automation and lifecycle management.
Infrastructure Engineering: Responsible for Storage and Horizon Infrastructure, ESXi Server, vSphere, and core services such as Backup (Veeam), Certificates, Monitoring, and Logging.
Security and Compliance: Implement robust security measures and ensure compliance across infrastructure components.
Project Coordination: Drive infrastructure improvements, including planning, specification, and execution of solutions.
Collaboration: Work closely with Network and Endpoint teams to ensure seamless operations and effective escalation management. Collaborate with other IT functions like Customer Service or Enterprise Application and Integration to provide appropriate services and solutions.
Innovation and Transition: Maintain a strong interest in automation and understanding of necessary tools. Identify opportunities for modernization, including evaluation of cloud-based solutions.
What’s important to us
You have professional work experience in a similar position.
Expertise in data center and cloud computing, including server, storage, and virtualization technologies (VMWare, Storage, Ubuntu, Windows Server).
Strong conceptual knowledge of IT infrastructure services.
Familiarity with security best practices, infrastructure integrations, and automation (IaC).
Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, fostering collaboration and growth.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Visionary mindset with a proactive approach to innovation and continuous improvement.
Ability to communicate confidently in English and German.
