Job Description

School of the Osage, in partnership with our students, families, and community will equip all learners to meet their maximum potential for a lifetime of success.

Type of Position: Para

Category: Support

Degrees required or preferred: A minimum of at least 60 hours of college coursework, Required or completion of the Missouri Educator Gateway Assessment (MEGA) Paraprofessional

Performance Expectations:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.

* Completed at least 60 credit hours of study at an institution of higher education; or
* Completed the Missouri Educator Gateway Assessment (MEGA) Paraprofessional; or
* Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree.
* Work on the playground and be responsible for the children’s health, safety and happiness during morning, lunchtime and afternoon play sessions.
* Knowledge of basic computer skills (typing, Word).
* Paraprofessionals with a baccalaureate degree and an appropriate teaching certificate and/or training may initiate instruction and work independently.
* Assist in activities assigned by and under the direct control of the teacher.
* Promote good behavior and manners to ensure that the children are calm and happy.
* Instigate and play games with the children.
* Complete any paperwork relating to playtime incidents.
* Assist in escorting a group of children throughout the day to and from class and after school care.
* Maintain student schedules and keep students focused on assigned tasks for a specific duration.
* Assist in responsibility for procedures related to physical and medical needs of students.
* Prepare and collect materials needed by the teacher in presenting a unit of work.
* Work with individual students or small groups on activities that have been assigned by the teacher.
* Assist individual students as directed by the teacher.
* Supervise students during non-instructional times in the day, such as during the lunch period, when students are entering or leaving buses, while otherwise on school premises, and including duty before/during/after school.
* Complete recordkeeping tasks as assigned by the teacher.
* There are occasions where telework might increase district and student access to qualified employees, decrease absenteeism, be an appropriate accommodation for a disability or be a necessary alternative to closing district operations completely during an emergency.
* Other duties as assigned.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

An individual who holds this position: Is frequently required to stand, stoop, bend and kneel. He/she may have to use therapeutic restraint and will regularly lift students. Must have both close and distance vision.


Salary: Commensurate based on experience

Contract Type: 9 months Non-exempt

This position will start for the2025-2026school year.
