DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The WMO Youth Team is experiencing a significant increase in communication demands in the lead‑up to the Youth Action Plan launch. With growing requests for support across events, campaigns, and outreach materials, additional capacity is essential to ensure timely and impactful engagement. This includes managing the new WMO youth podcast, expanding social media and newsletter content, and supporting the coordination of youth‑focused events. The incumbent will perform the following duties:
* Content Creation & Management: Develop and schedule youth‑focused social media content, newsletters, and web updates; monitor engagement metrics and support internal knowledge sharing.
* Event & Campaign Support: Assist with communication and logistics for major youth events (e.g., COP, consultations), including real‑time coverage and visual documentation.
* Podcast Coordination: Manage podcast production schedules and guest logistics; draft briefs, promotional materials, and summaries while supporting editing and post‑production.
* Documentation & Outreach: Take notes and create event summaries; maintain mailing lists and contribute to outreach materials that amplify youth engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Higher education degree obtained in graphic design, communication, multimedia design, information design, digital media, environmental communication, or a related field.
* Demonstrated interest in youth engagement, climate change, or science communication.
* Experience with content creation and social media management.
* Strong written and visual communication skills.
* Proficiency in tools such as Canva, Mailchimp, or podcast editing software is an asset.
* Organized, proactive, and able to work in a multicultural team environment.
* Interest in climate science or environmental issues.
* Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools, platforms, and design challenges as needed.
* Some knowledge of the activities of WMO or other United Nations agencies.
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.
Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
