Bristol Myers Squibb is recruiting a permanent Director, Global Supply Chain Data Capability Owner.
Position Summary
The Global Supply Chain Data Capability Owner (GCO) owns the data model design and implementation across pillar capabilities, enabling BMS Global Supply Chain (GSC) to realize its strategic goals. The GCO is accountable for the continuous advancement of our data capabilities within the Global Supply Chain, supporting the establishment of a data fabric that enables advanced digital solutions, governance, and data flows for the creation and maintenance of data elements across source systems. The GCO collaborates with pillar leadership, functional teams, IT, the GPS Chief of Staff organization, and other GCOs to ensure consistent execution and drive best‑in‑class maturity of data capabilities, improving data availability and accuracy. By leveraging digital tools and technologies, the GCO streamlines processes, enhances data accuracy, and drives innovation to improve performance on a scalable, user‑friendly basis, fostering a culture that understands and manages data as a strategic asset.
Duties/Responsibilities
* Deliver new and improved capabilities across People, Process, Technology, and Data for GSC, emphasizing data accuracy and availability across all pillars.
* Serve as the conductor for data within GSC, aligning all supply chain sections to work together and leading cross‑pillar end‑to‑end data standardization and transformation.
* Define and optimize processes and rollout capability evolution roadmaps, including data model designs, business rule documentation, workflow enablement, and user interfaces.
* Drive GSC toward an interconnected data fabric, partnering closely with cross‑functional stakeholder groups to deliver this vision.
* Upskill the broader GSC organization in data knowledge and training, ensuring data is recognized as a strategic asset.
* Use benchmarking and process KPIs to identify opportunities for data capability improvement, bringing an outside‑in perspective.
* Provide leadership for large, complex data programs, including matrix leadership of sub‑programs, training content development, KPI establishment, and change management for user adoption.
* Lead their team, offering clear direction, guidance, and people development.
* Manage relationships with key stakeholders both within and outside of GSC.
* Provide data process expertise and ensure accuracy of accompanying business process models during project phases.
* Help the organization transition through disruption quickly and enable accelerated change management with digital evolution.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies, maintaining robust governance and data integrity.
* Collaborate with the Data Center of Excellence to define and enable improved processes, performance, and user experience for serialization and other supply chain functions.
* Develop data lifecycle processes aligned to portfolio lifecycle management to synchronize supply chain brand strategy and execution, including New Product Introductions (NPI).
* Act as an SME and advisor to projects and initiatives that impact data capabilities, including reporting.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required
* Education:
o B.S. or BA in supply chain, management, technical field (biotechnology, biology, chemistry, pharmacy, engineering or related disciplines) or data science; a Masters or MBA preferred.
o Advanced certification in Supply Chain Management strongly preferred (e.g., APICS CSCP/CPIM).
o Operational excellence experience (Green/Black belt or equivalent) preferred.
* Experience:
o 10+ years in Supply Chain Management.
o Demonstrated experience with data models and understanding of supply chain master data requirements.
o Broad and diverse experience in supply chain functions highly desired.
o Proven track record of leading transformational projects with high‑performing cross‑functional teams.
o Strong ability to navigate complex organizations, aligning and integrating cross‑functional resources in a highly matrixed environment.
o Demonstrated ability to identify and deploy innovative ideas that optimize processes and create value.
o Financial management exposure, awareness, and acumen.
o Excellent communication, influencing, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
o Lean/Six Sigma certification highly desired.
o Understanding of cGMP, FDA, and other regulatory requirements.
o Exposure to Biotech/Pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, principles, and practices.
* Additional professional and personal requirements:
o Comprehensive understanding of the entire value chain, including key SAP S4 HANA modules (MM, PP, SD, BW, GTS/Fiori) and experience with Machine Learning/AI, JIRA, Data Lake, Tableau, and analytical tools.
o Strong understanding of global supply chain processes, with experience in process optimization and standardization while leveraging digital solutions.
o Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of driving discussions, resolving conflicts, and building consensus.
o Leadership that inspires, motivates, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement.
o Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, capable of prioritizing issues, root cause analysis, and proposing effective solutions.
o Change mindset, able to adapt to evolving business needs and priorities, leading change initiatives and ensuring stakeholder alignment and readiness.
