Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Drug Discovery
Geneva, Switzerland
We’re looking for an experienced COO to help shape and run the operations of a growing drug discovery company in Geneva. The ideal candidate is someone who understands how early-stage research organisations work and can build the systems, structure and discipline needed to move programmes forward efficiently.
Role Overview
The COO will work closely with the CEO and scientific leadership to manage day-to-day operations and ensure the company runs smoothly. This includes strengthening internal processes, coordinating cross-functional work, planning resources, and supporting the progression of research and preclinical activities.
Main Responsibilities
* Oversee operational activities across research, project management and supporting functions.
* Put in place practical processes for planning, budgeting, reporting and decision-making.
* Improve how teams work together and remove bottlenecks across the drug discovery workflow.
* Support strategic planning and help translate company goals into clear operational steps.
* Manage external partners, suppliers and research collaborations.
* Ensure the company operates in line with relevant Swiss and international standards.
* Recruit, mentor and support team leads as the organisation grows.
* Contribute to board materials, investor discussions and corporate planning when needed.
Candidate Profile
* Significant operational leadership experience in biotech, pharma, or a drug discovery-focused organisation.
* Strong understanding of scientific research environments and preclinical development.
* Track record of building teams, improving processes and supporting company growth.
* Clear communicator who is comfortable working across scientific, operational and corporate areas.
* Able to work hands‑on in a fast‑moving environment.
* Fluent in English; French is helpful.
