This role is ideal for a documentary editor passionate about shaping powerful narratives that drive social change. The project centers on editing a feature-length documentary exploring autism within underserved communities, with a focus on caregiver experiences, cultural stigma, and access to care. The editor will be responsible for transforming raw footage into a compelling, emotionally resonant story, as well as producing a high-quality teaser trailer to support grant applications, sponsorship outreach, and film festival submissions. Prior experience with social impact or healthcare-related documentaries is highly valued, as is a keen sense for pacing, clarity, and emotional storytelling.
Deliverables
Edit a feature-length documentary from raw footage, ensuring a cohesive and impactful narrative.
Develop and produce a teaser trailer tailored for grant applications, sponsorship, and festival submissions.
Collaborate closely with the executive producer and on-screen host to refine story arcs and highlight key themes.
Integrate interviews, b-roll, and archival material to enhance storytelling and emotional engagement.
Ensure all edits meet technical standards for broadcast and festival submission.
Manage feedback rounds and implement revisions efficiently within project timelines.
Requirements
Proven experience editing documentary or social impact films, preferably with healthcare or community themes.
Strong storytelling skills with the ability to craft clear, emotionally engaging narratives from complex material.
Expertise in trailer editing and creating content for grant or festival submissions.
Proficiency in industry-standard editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar).
Ability to work independently and manage multiple feedback rounds.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Availability for a part-time, contract-based engagement.
Experience working with sensitive topics and diverse communities is a plus.
