Ph3Overview /h3 ul libPosition Type: /b Transportation/ Transportation /li libDate Posted: /b 4/26/2026 /li libLocation: /b District Wide /li /ul pJob Title: Mechanic Supervisor /p pSalary Range: $51,907- $85,221 (Commensurate with experience) /p pbSupervisor: /b Director of Transportation /p pbJob Classification: /b Non-Exempt /p h3Job Summary /h3 pThe Mechanic Supervisor This position reports to the Director of Transportation. /p h3Essential Job Functions /h3 ul liSupervise repairs and services a variety of gasoline and diesel school buses and bus hydraulic or air systems. /li liRepairs, overhauls and maintains specialized equipment. /li liRepairs, and overhauls brakes, ignition and fuel systems, transmissions differentials, front and rear axle equipment. /li liSupervise and operate various types of shop equipment, machinery, precision instruments, specialized tools and devices. /li liMake initial inspection in difficult cases and diagnosis trouble with aid of technical and diagnostic computers. /li liAssist in training and evaluation of garage employees. /li liPromote high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas. /li liReface brake drums and relines brakes. /li liPerforms other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation. /li /ul h3Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required) /h3 ul liThorough knowledge of the construction, design, repair and adjustment of diesel equipment and related machinery. /li liMust pass an annual physical examination to include random drug screening. /li liGeneral knowledge of computers in order to maintain records of work. /li /ul h3Minimum Qualifications /h3 pbEducation /b: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma required. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by technical and mechanical training. /p pbExperience /b: Prior experience as an automotive and truck mechanic. Extensive experience including supervisory experience in skilled automotive and truck mechanical work. /p pbCertification and License /b: Valid Virginia Driver's License Class B, CDL with school bus, passenger and air brake endorsement. Requires or must obtain ASE certification of school bus. Virginia State inspector certificate desired. /p h3Working Conditions and Physical Demands /h3 pMust have the ability to stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to operate equipment; see and read printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; physical agility to lift 50 pounds; to bend, stoop and reach overhead. /p /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
