Technical Data Scientist Trainee
Your contribution
Join our R&D team as a Technical Data Scientist Trainee and play a key role in driving innovation at Tecan. In this position, you will work hands-on with large-scale datasets generated from IoT devices and transactional systems, helping to extract actionable insights that improve product performance and optimize business processes. You will gain valuable experience with advanced analytics techniques and data processing tools in a collaborative, research-driven environment.
Responsibilities
Assisting in the collection, cleaning, and preprocessing of IoT and transactional data from diverse sources
Ensuring data quality and integrity through validation and error-checking procedures
Performing exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies
Creating visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Collaborating with data scientists and engineers to support the development of predictive and descriptive models
Participating in the testing and validation of analytical models using real-world data
Your background
We’re not just looking for hard skills: We’re looking for people who bring their passion and talent to work.
You are currently pursuing or have completed a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Mathematics, AI/ML, or a related field
You have strong programming skills in Python and are comfortable with data-science packages such as Pandas, Matplotlib, Scikit-Learn, PyTorch, or PySpark
You are familiar with data analytics, databases (e.g., SQL-Server), and graphical data presentation
You have experience with transformer-based models (e.g., OpenAI)
Knowledge of Rust, C++, or C# is a plus
You communicate effectively in English; German language skills are an advantage
You have strong technical presentation skills and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment
