PpFor our client in the telecommunications sector, we are looking for an experienced Senior Database Engineer / Database Architect to support a strategic database migration from Microsoft SQL Server to PostgreSQL. /p pThe role focuses on database architecture, migration planning, performance optimisation and technical consulting within a complex enterprise environment. The consultant will work closely with architecture, development and operations teams and support the full migration lifecycle from assessment to implementation and knowledge transfer. /p ul liAdvise and support the migration from Microsoft SQL Server to PostgreSQL /li liDefine and review target architectures for PostgreSQL-based environments /li liAnalyse existing database landscapes, data models and workloads /li liPlan and execute database migrations, including migration strategy and cutover concepts /liliAssess and optimise database performance, query tuning and resource consumption /li liConduct sizing, capacity and scalability analyses /li liAdvise on high availability, disaster recovery, backup and restore strategies /li liSupport the migration of database objects such as stored procedures, views, functions and triggers /li liIdentify SQL Server-specific dependencies and define suitable PostgreSQL target implementations /li liSupport test concepts, migration testing and performance testing /li liCreate technical documentation, guidelines and best practices /li liTransfer knowledge to internal teams and operational units /li liBased in Switzerland, with work performed exclusively in Switzerland /li liAt least 8–10 years of experience as a Database Engineer, Database Architect or DBA /li liSeveral years of hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL in enterprise environments /li liProven project experience in migrations from Microsoft SQL Server to PostgreSQL /li liStrong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture and internals /li liStrong experience in query optimisation and performance tuning /li liGood knowledge of indexing strategies and partitioning /li liExperience with high availability and replication concepts /li liStrong understanding of backup and recovery concepts /li liExperience with capacity planning, sizing and scalability assessments /li liVery good SQL skills /li liExperience with migration tools and database assessment methods /li liAbility to identify technical risks early and propose suitable mitigation measures /li liVery good communication and consulting skills /li /ul /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
