Lead Strategist - Commodity Finance
The Lead Strategist - Commodity Finance will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction and management of commodity finance globally.
This position requires an experienced professional with a strong understanding of commodities markets and extensive knowledge of structured commodity finance (SCF) products and risk management.
You will be responsible for developing and executing the global SCF strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall ING business strategy and the global trade and commodity finance franchise strategy.
In this role, you will also oversee the origination, structuring, and execution of new SCF deals, as well as manage and monitor the existing portfolio of deals.
Your primary focus will be on driving commercial performance and managing financial and non-financial risks associated with SCF transactions.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing long-term plans for the product and identifying growth opportunities to drive differentiation of customer value proposition versus competitors.
* Collaborating with deal principals and team leads to facilitate the origination, structuring, and execution of new SCF deals and manage the existing portfolio of deals.
* Responsible for the global SCF profit and loss (P&L).
* Celebrating innovation while ensuring regulatory compliance in line with established procedures.
* Attracting, engaging, and developing talent to build a high-performing team.
Required Experience
We are seeking a candidate with:
* A minimum of 10-15 years of work experience in the commodities industry.
* Experience in managing complex producer/processing-related financing structures.
* A proven track record of managing and growing businesses, preferably new businesses.
* Strong commercial acumen and ability to execute.
* Highly experienced in complex stakeholder management.
* Good knowledge/experience of regulatory requirements and risk management (financial & non-financial).
* A growth mindset and ability to operate in ambiguity.
Qualifications/Education
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Mathematics or closely related quantitative field; MBA preferred.
