About the job
Technical writers plan, create, and maintain educational content as an integral part of the engineering or user experience. The content is often in the form of documentation, but may also be UI text, sample code, videos, or other educational material. Regardless of the content medium, technical writers are distinguished by their abilities to explain complex topics in a way that’s useful to their audience. Responsibilities
* Plan, research, write, and maintain quality technical documentation for external developer audiences, including Application Programming Interface (API) references, how-to guides, conceptual documents, and code samples for the Merchant API.
* Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, User Experience (UX) researchers, and other stakeholders across the Commerce Merchant organization to gather information, understand user needs, and ensure technical accuracy.
* Edit, clarify, and proof-read documents and coach non-writers to improve their writing skills.
* Work with a global team of engineers, product teams, content strategists, and other technical writers.
Minimum qualifications
* Bachelor\'s degree in a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
* 4 years of experience in creating content for technical audiences (e.g., developer documentation, Computer Science course material, or Information Technology administration playbooks).
Preferred qualifications
* Master\'s degree in Writing, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
* 2 years of experience in technical writing.
* Experience in a related technical area.
