In this capacity, we provide our airline members with sustainability and economic analyses, tools, and support that allows them to meet present and future obligations, measure themselves against the overall industry's performance, and that advances their advocacy efforts. Our division aims to be the leading research body in terms of air transportation, and we have a central role in helping to shape the thinking of the industry.IATA's Policy & Standards Department in the S&E Division works with airlines, regulators, and civil society to develop and implement policies and industry standards that support air transport's sustainable development. You will join the team responsible for aviation and climate change policy, contributing to the industry's transition to a more sustainable future.What Your Day Would Be LikeReporting to the Assistant Director, Climate Policy, and working closely with all members of the team you will support the preparation and development of various materials – including briefing, analysis and modelling – for a range of upcoming events and initiatives.These include but not limited to, the ICAO 42nd Assembly, COP30, and policy reviews, including the ReFuelEU Aviation and the EU ETS, along with the Sustainable Transport Investment Plan (STIP) by the EU Commission.Your work will include conducting robust research and policy analysis – both qualitative and quantitative – which helps to underpin IATA's advocacy positioning. You will help to identify solutions to the various challenges airlines face when complying with different pieces of regulation within and across jurisdictions. You will provide technical support to minimize the risk of non-compliance.You will be involved in multiple tasks at once. Your outputs will include written reports and briefing, contributions to the development of position papers and initial drafting of interventions, the preparation and collation of various resources (both qualitative and quantitative), reference material, frameworks and tools to support our member airlines, regional colleagues and advocacy interventions, modelling output, and PowerPoint presentations. You will be expected to contribute to strategy and planning discussions for the team and wider Division and will have the opportunity to be part of discussions with various stakeholders.This role will require the ability to understand and explain various climate policies and policy proposals, at a regional and global level, and their implications for the industry. You will gain experience in the policy process, assessment and review, expertise on international standards and requirements for aviation and how they interact with regional or country-level policy interventionsWe would love to hear from you ifA graduate within 1 year from Environmental Engineer discipline or similar.A strong work ethic, are self-motivated, flexible to adapt to changing priorities and circumstances, and a team player.Detail oriented, with good organizational, time management and communications skills.Working knowledge of Environmental policy and regulation and/or the aviation industry would be an advantageStrong ability to work with IT tools for production of reports in MS Office.Good written and verbal skills in English.Travel Required: N*Learn more about IATA's role in the industry, our benefits, and the team at iata/careers/.
