One of our clients – a Major Global Financial Institution – is looking to hire in Basel, Switzerland an Oracle Database Administrator. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience -with proven hands‑on experience in the database administration tasks as detailed in the must haves. In addition, we need someone with working knowledge of Reporting and Analysis Services and Oracle.
Tasks & Responsibilities
To work as a member of the database administration team, primary responsibilities are the administration of the Oracle database infrastructures, and Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and with a main focus on Oracle.
* Provide standardised templates and configurations for MS SQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL deployments.
* Support adoption of modern database technologies, including containerised database solutions.
* Backup / restore operations
* Monitoring and alert management
* Performance analysis and tuning
* Automate routine database tasks (e.g., provisioning, monitoring, patching) using tools like Ansible and OpenShift.
Must haves
* Deep domain expertise in managing and administering enterprise database systems, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL.
* Experience with containerised database technologies and platforms, such as RedHat OpenShift.
* Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, security, and backup/recovery strategies.
* Proficiency in Linux system administration, including scripting (Bash, Python) and automation in enterprise environments.
* Demonstrated experience with automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform to streamline database deployment and management.
* Experience with DevOps practices, emphasizing automation, reusability, and collaboration to enhance database operations and project delivery.
* Fluency with CI/CD tools and code management solutions (e.g., Git), particularly for managing database infrastructure and deployment tasks.
* Understanding of IT infrastructure technologies, including Data Centre technologies, networking, and virtualisation, to support database integration into hybrid cloud environments.
Nice to have
* Experience with scheduling tool e.g. ControlM
* Familiarity with modern authorization concepts, such as OAuth and token-based authentication, for secure database access.
