About the Role:
Art Basel is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Content Manager to join our marketing team in Basel. In this role, you'll take ownership of the content experience on our website, while providing support on the Art Basel app. Your focus will be on ensuring that our digital content is engaging, optimized, and aligned with business and marketing goals.
You will be instrumental in shaping our editorial strategy, launching our SEO efforts, and preparing us for a future platform redesign. We're looking for someone who can balance strong editorial instincts with operational discipline, helping us connect meaningfully with VIPs, gallerists, and global art lovers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Editorial Ownership: Define and manage the editorial calendar for the website, ensuring all content aligns with business priorities and marketing campaigns.
* Content Creation & Management: Edit, publish, and maintain high-quality content in line with Art Basel's tone of voice and editorial standards.
* Multichannel Publishing: Publish content primarily on the website using a CMS, and support content updates on the app as needed.
* Content Strategy & Performance: Analyze how content performs across channels and adapt strategy to enhance user experience and engagement.
* Content Optimization (SEO & AI): Collaborate with the Performance Marketing Manager to define and execute an SEO strategy. Lead our first steps into AI-driven content optimization to increase discoverability.
* Content Ideation: Proactively propose new content ideas to drive engagement, retention, and relevance on the website.
* Translation Management: Coordinate translations of website content using AI tools, with quality control by freelance translators. Manage the relationship with translators and oversee the review workflow.
* Redesign & CMS Migration: Play an integral role in the upcoming website redesign and CMS migration, collaborating with the Digital Team as part of the core project taskforce.
* Process & Documentation: Document and continuously improve content workflows, processes, and team documentation to drive efficiency.
* Cross-functional Collaboration: Support and coordinate with teams across the organization on various content needs and campaign requirements.
* KPI Tracking: Assist in tracking content KPIs and deriving insights to inform future planning.
* Team Support: Provide operational support to the Copywriter and Marketing Manager as needed.
Your Profile:
* 3+ years of experience in a content-focused role, in-house or agency side.
* Exceptional writing and proofreading skills with a sharp eye for detail.
* Strong understanding of digital content strategy, customer journeys, and engagement best practices.
* Practical experience with SEO principles and tools; familiarity with AI search trends is a plus.
* Experience using CMS and project management tools (e.g. Contentful, WordPress, Asana, Notion, Airtable).
* Demonstrated ability to learn new tools and platforms - You will be trained in Salesforce to support email marketing workflows.
* Comfortable using data tools like Google Analytics to analyze and improve content performance.
* Highly organized with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
* Experience working in or alongside a digital product team is an advantage.
* Proactive, independent, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, hybrid or remote environment.
* Native-level English speaker and writer; German or French is a plus.
* Willingness and ability to work outside of regular working hours during the fairs period.
