Position Summary
The Cafeteria Manager oversees the daily operations of the school cafeteria, ensuring compliance with the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs, adherence to company food concepts, and delivery of high‑quality meals in a safe and efficient environment. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining nutrition standards and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Program Compliance & Food Service Operations
* Demonstrate a strong understanding of the National School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program, including regulations, reporting, and meal pattern requirements.
* Oversee large‑scale food preparation and ensure meals are prepared in accordance with recipes, nutritional guidelines, and safety standards.
* Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of all kitchen equipment.
* Maintain accurate daily production records and required documentation in compliance with federal, state, and company standards.
* Uphold and model company food concepts and expectations for quality, consistency, and presentation.
Staff Leadership & Training
* Supervise, train, and evaluate cafeteria staff, ensuring effective teamwork and adherence to operational procedures.
* Provide training on food production, recipe utilization, and proper use of kitchen equipment.
* Reinforce company expectations and food concepts among team members.
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and safety‑focused kitchen culture.
Qualifications
* 1–2 years of staff management experience in a food service or school cafeteria setting.
* Food service experience with demonstrated knowledge of large‑scale meal preparation.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
* Proficiency in reading recipes, performing basic math conversions, and maintaining accurate records.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Valid Driver’s License.
* Must obtain and maintain all required clearances and criminal background checks.
Preferred Skills
* Knowledge of USDA nutrition guidelines.
* Experience with menu planning and food ordering systems.
* ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification.
