Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern – Director of Sales
Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern is looking for a Director of Sales to join our Sales & Marketing team. This role is based in Luzern and focuses on leading the hotel’s sales strategy, managing the sales team and driving revenue growth across all market segments while building strong client relationships.
About the Job
As Director of Sales, you will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s sales strategy, manage the sales staff, and work closely with the Sales & Marketing department to achieve the marketing plan goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Implement the agreed rate structure and strategy for all market segments in collaboration with the Director of Commercial Strategy.
* Monitor all sales activities for sales managers, ensuring they meet the marketing plan goals.
* Analyze market changes and implement programs with the sales team to respond effectively.
* Maintain close relationships with key decision‑makers in local and international markets.
* Conduct wholesale and corporate negotiations and finalize contracts with tour operators, agents and corporate accounts.
* Work closely with Regional Sales Offices to ensure measurable results targets are achieved.
* Analyze and evaluate client production with sales managers and implement sales action plans.
* Attend selected fairs, roadshows and workshops.
* Stay updated on city project progress to capture all potential business.
* Develop your team, improve employee performance through coaching and feedback, and set performance and development goals.
* Train your team to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards.
* Collaborate with the Human Resources Department to select applications and conduct interviews.
Qualifications
* Established education in the hotel industry or a related degree in tourism.
* Many years of experience in a similar role within the luxury hotel industry.
* Strong network on regional, national or international level.
* Effective time management, strong communication and presentation skills.
* Expressiveness, open‑mindedness and ability to work in a team.
* Excellent interpersonal skills for external and internal customers.
* High quality awareness and a flair for trends.
* Strong business sense with the ability to analyze financial statements, sales reports and market data.
* Flexibility and ability to work under pressure; the role includes business travel.
* Very good knowledge of German and English; additional foreign language skills are an advantage.
