Your mission
 1. Represent IEC in the region as the primary contact for countries and organizations, developing strategies to strengthen awareness, engagement, and use of IEC work
 2. Support and guide strategic and technical activities led by the Standardization Management Board (SMB) and ensure the efficient progress of standardization activities by building trustful relationships and supporting committees in alignment with IEC principles, ISO/IEC Directives, and strategic priorities
A typical day
As Technical Officer
 3. assist and advise Committees on the procedures to process documents into standards
 4. ensure the standards development projects meet their deadlines by proactively engaging with the Committee Officers (and project leaders, convenors or experts where appropriate)
 5. facilitate conflict resolutions within or between committee (s) (Including CoC)
 6. ensure upwards and downwards link with the SMB, including consideration of matters raised by National Committees about standardization work
 7. act as a change agent internally and towards Committees, share information on latest tools, provide input to the IEC Academy or directly train TCs to build their capacity
 8. ensure the correctness of the project’s documentation and related up-to-date data on the IEC website
 9. provide two-way interface between IEC Secretariat and the committee
As Regional Director
 10. ensure the effective operation and compliance of the IEC Regional Centre for North America (ReCNA)
 11. manage, mentor and motivate the team through effective objective setting, performance appraisals, continuous feedback and professional development opportunities
 12. oversee administrative, financial, and legal activities in collaboration with the Office Administrator and external providers
 13. manage the regional budget, approve expenses, and ensure accurate reporting and documentation
 14. coordinate audits and maintain compliance with tax, payroll, and statutory requirements.
 15. represent IEC in the region, build relationships with National Committees, and promote IEC’s work and services
 16. lead outreach, training, and awareness initiatives to strengthen engagement and support the adoption of IEC tools and systems
Expertise required to be successful
 17. University degree, preferably in either electrical/electronic engineering or telecommunications
 18. broad understanding of and interest in IEC’s technical area of activity
 19. project and programme management, including time management (respect of deadlines)
 20. excellent written and verbal communication in English; other languages a plus
 21. solid working knowledge of relevant digital tools, curious about, able to learn, assimilate and understand the impacts of current and future technologies
 22. available for international travel

Work Authorization
This position is based in Worcester, Massachusetts. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and hold a valid passport. Employment eligibility will be verified through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Form I-9 process.
The role requires the ability to work in the Worcester office at least three days per week. Candidates living outside the U.S. can therefore not be considered.
