Job Description
We are currently seeking a Lab Technician specialized in cell biology and Functional Screenings for an estimated client project.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Perform and develop biochemical and cell-based functional assays (96- or 384-well plate format) for screening and pharmacological characterization of molecules in drug discovery or technology development projects.
2. Work extensively with human cell lines and cell culture techniques, utilizing pipetting robots and high-end analytical instruments such as plate readers.
3. Independently design, plan, execute, and analyze cell culture experiments and assays within cancer models.
4. Ensure all work complies with General Laboratory Standards, Safety, Health, Environment standards, and all relevant internal and external regulations.
5. Deliver results on time and within budget constraints.
6. Perform statistical data analysis and interpret results.
7. Determine SOPs, prepare reports, and deliver presentations.
8. Maintain high-end laboratory devices and instruments.
9. Follow industry standards of good research practice, including proper documentation in an ELN system.
10. Maximize the value obtained from laboratory measurements.
Qualifications:
* Ideally MSc degree in biology/oncology or relevant lab technician training with hands-on experience.
* At least 2 years of industry experience in a drug discovery environment.
* Deep technical knowledge of biologics assay development, validation, screening, and automation, with a focus on quality and scientific rigor.
* Strong hands-on experience with cell-based assays, including cell culture, viability, phenotypic assays, FACS, etc.
* Creative problem-solving skills and motivation to develop new assay technologies and processes.
* Experience with biochemical and molecular biology techniques such as ELISA, WB, and enzyme assays.
* Experience with biochemical assays like HTRF, AlphaLISA, and AlphaScreen is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of high throughput technologies and automated liquid handling systems is a plus.
* Understanding of statistical data analysis and experimental design (DoE) is advantageous.
* Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
* Proactive, independent, structured, and motivated work approach, coupled with excellent problem-solving skills and team spirit.
* Effective communication skills and experience working in multidisciplinary teams and collaborations.
* Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory; Italian language skills are a plus.
* Ability to exercise independent judgment in technique selection, protocol and study design, data analysis, and standard procedures to meet objectives.
