This post is a limited-term fixed-term post.

1. Organizational Context

a. Organizational Setting

The post is in the newly created Patents and Technology Sector (PTS) Digital Content team in the Office of the Deputy Director General. The team is responsible for developing and distributing valuable, user-centric PTS content across WIPO’s multiple channels. The office will manage the PTS web presence and publish or oversee the publishing of content for various channels, including newsletters and other digital platforms in alignment with the broader corporate context and efforts to digitalize content for maximum impact.

b. Purpose Statement

The Digital Content Analyst will enhance the Patents and Technology Sector’s online presence by developing, implementing, and managing digital content strategies. This position focuses on creating engaging, user-centric digital content that aligns with the organization's goals and effectively connects with diverse audiences. The analyst will collaborate closely with teams both within PTS, such as with the Marketing Specialist, and across the organization, specifically with key areas such as communications, customer service and marketing teams, to ensure content is optimized across all digital platforms, promoting the PTS's mission and objectives.

c. Reporting Lines

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Senior Administrative Officer, Office of the Deputy Director General, PTS.

d. Work Relations

The incumbent regularly collaborates with all other divisions within PTS, and works closely across the organization with key areas such as the customer experience and marketing team, and the staff of the Web Communications team and News and Media Division to ensure PTS initiatives align with the Organization’s efforts.

2. Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:

a. Collaborate internally and externally within WIPO teams to develop and execute a comprehensive digital content strategy that supports PTS initiatives and enhances online engagement in line with broader corporate effort.

b. Conduct market research and gather systematic insight and feedback from communications, customer service and marketing teams as well as other internal stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and ensure audience’s needs and preferences are met, resulting in PTS's digital output being relevant and impactful.

c. Produce high-quality digital content (articles, blog posts, infographics) tailored for various platforms, including the PTS website, social media, and newsletters, while coordinating with subject matter experts within PTS to gather insights and information necessary for content creation.

d. Implement SEO best practices to enhance the visibility and searchability of PTS online content while regularly reviewing and updating existing digital materials. Integrate user feedback and analytics to ensure that all content remains accurate, relevant, and engaging.

e. Analyze web traffic, social media metrics, and user interactions, including surveys, to assess content strategy effectiveness and deliver regular reports with actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

f. Serve as a liaison between the PTS sector, the News and Media Division, the customer experience and marketing team in IPS, and the Web Communications team to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all platforms while supporting events and communications campaigns by developing promotional materials and visual assets.

g. Interact with stakeholders on social media and other platforms to encourage community participation and gather feedback. Monitor content and strategy across the industry, identify gaps in current content and suggest new topics about PTS content while staying updated on industry trends and best practices in digital content creation.

h. Provide training for staff on content creation and effective digital engagement, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture in content development.

i. Provide comprehensive support for managing digital content initiatives, while aligning with best practices and collaborating closely with relevant teams across WIPO; ensure projects stay on schedule and achieve their established goals while performing additional related duties to facilitate the objectives of the PTS sector.

j. Keep abreast of new technologies and best practices in digital content management, communications trends and understand various channels to reach sector-specific target audiences.

k. Perform other duties related duties, as required.

3. Requirements

Education (Essential)

First-level university degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media/transformation, Digital technology management or a related field.

Experience (Essential)

At least six years of relevant experience, including in digital content creation, digital strategy development, or online communications, preferably within an international setting.

Experience (Desirable)

Experience with graphic design, multimedia production, and project management.

Language (Essential)

Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.

Language (Desirable)

Knowledge of other PCT languages, particularly French.

Job Related Competencies (Essential)

Strong understanding of web analytics tools, content management systems, digital communication strategies and social media platforms.

Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience with content optimization strategies.

Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity and audience engagement and the ability to adapt messages to diverse audiences.

Ability to work collaboratively across teams, demonstrating effective project management skills.

Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies.

Excellent time management and work organization skills.

Ability to work independently in a proactive manner, and under pressure with tight deadlines.

Meticulous attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.

5. Information

Mobility: WIPO staff members are international civil servants subject to the authority of the Director General and may be assigned to any activities, office or duty station of the Organization. Accordingly, the selected candidate may be required to move from time to time to new functions and/or to another duty station.

Annual salary :

Total annual salary consists of a net annual salary (net of taxes and before medical insurance and pension fund deductions) in US dollars and a post adjustment. Please note that this estimate is for information only. The post adjustment multiplier (cost of living allowance) is variable and subject to change (increase or decrease) without notice. The figures quoted below are based on the May 2025 rate of 81 .4%

Additional Information

* Initial fixed-term appointment of two years, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and other applicable conditions. The selected candidate’s appointment will be subject to an overall term of five years in this position, with normally no possibility of renewal beyond that term. S/he may, however, apply and be considered for other positions at WIPO.

This is not applicable to WIPO staff members on fixed-term, continuing or permanent appointments, who were recruited following a competition under Staff Regulation 4.10 (“Appointment Boards”).
