SWISSto12 is one of the world’s fastest-growing aerospace companies, evolving from its pioneering use of 3D printing technologies for high-performance Radio Frequency (RF) products and applications to recently announcing the manufacture of entire geostationary telecom satellites, called HummingSat, that define a new category in space.
HummingSat is the world’s first commercial telecom GEO SmallSat developed in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA). Its uniquely compact size combined with highly capable telecom payloads allows telecommunications operators to deploy a cost-efficient, compact, and agile asset without sacrificing performance or security. HummingSat has been selected by Intelsat to build the I-45 satellite, by Inmarsat to build three I-8 satellites, and recently by Astrum Mobile to build the NEASTAR-1 satellite.
SWISSto12 is also a leading provider of Radio-Frequency (RF) products and sub-systems for satellite communication and remote sensing applications. The company’s patented 3D printing technologies and associated product designs are unique to deliver lightweight, compact, highly performing, and competitive RF products.
This position is a unique opportunity to contribute to the hands‑on assembly and integration of a cutting‑edge satellite.
You will be instrumental in enabling fast, clean execution of a highly cross‑disciplinary test campaign from system integration to launch while managing risks and ensuring design feedback is systematically captured and acted upon.
Job Requirements
* 10+ years of experience in satellite AIT or system‑level integration in the space industry
* Systems mindset with ability to understand and balance trade‑offs across subsystems (power, avionics, propulsion, payload, structure, thermal, etc.)
* Ability to “make subsystems talk to each other”, technically and operationally with a strong sense of ownership and bias for action
* Hands‑on experience with spacecraft integration and test campaigns, including test execution, GSE use, and cross‑discipline coordination
* Excellent troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and coordination skills under time pressure
* Solid understanding of EGSE, test setups, and environmental testing (TVAC, vibration, EMC)
* Master’s or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Telecommunications Engineering
* Fluent in English (spoken and written); Additional European languages are a plus
* Knowledge of space qualification and acceptance campaigns per ECSS or MIL‑STD
* Commitment to quality, documentation, and continuous improvement
* Be comfortable working with tight timelines, across multiple time zones and with frequent travels.
Job Responsibilities
Integration Planning & Coordination
* Translate system‑level and payload requirements into detailed AIT and test plans.
* Define and coordinate the logical sequence of integration and test operations across disciplines (RF, electrical, mechanical, thermal, propulsion).
* Identify cross‑subsystem interdependencies and ensure integrated execution across the full satellite stack.
System Test & GSE Support
* Coordinate the setup, integration, and verification of all required Ground Support Equipment (MGSE, EGSE, RF‑GSE).
* Support and supervise system‑level testing campaigns (e.g., functional, power‑on, RF path, TVAC, vibration, EMC).
* Ensure test setups reflect true operational conditions and capture meaningful performance results.
Risk Management & Proactive Troubleshooting
* Identify potential risks and challenges associated with AIT and test campaigns early on.
* Develop and implement mitigation strategies to minimize schedule, technical, or quality impacts.
* Actively troubleshoot anomalies, system behaviors, or test deviations with speed and cross‑functional collaboration.
Configuration & Interface Control
* Own system‑level configuration during AIT, tracking harness, hardware, panels, sensors, tools, and test setups.
* Manage change control throughout the integration lifecycle and ensure full traceability.
* Verify interface coherence across subsystems through mechanical, thermal, and electrical ICD alignment.
Verification & Documentation
* Maintain traceability between requirements, verification activities, and test outcomes (VCD, TRR, TRB).
* Review and contribute to test procedures, test reports, and integration documentation.
* Ensure deviations and workarounds are formally logged, justified, and closed through NCR or waiver process.
* Capture and elevate system‑level lessons learned during the campaign to influence future design cycles.
* Coordinate with the design and system engineering teams to propose and implement design or procedural improvements.
* Support the transition from AIT to launch campaign and potentially in‑orbit operations.
Interfaces
* AIT Disciplines: Daily coordination with mechanical, electrical, thermal, RF, and MGSE engineers
* System Engineering & Design Office: Alignment on requirements, feedback on interfaces and testability
* GSE and Test Facilities: Integration of test environments and test readiness activities
* QA and Configuration Management: NCR handling, process audits, and test traceability
* Suppliers and Partners: Collaboration on component‑level validation and interface clarification
