Nagra, the National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste in Switzerland, is undertaking a significant project: the planning, construction, operation, and closure of a deep geological repository for radioactive waste. Recognizing the project's historical importance, Nagra's staff members are planning for future generations.
Within the next two years, Nagra will submit two general licence applications—one for the deep geological repository and one for the encapsulation plant. Planning of the associated facilities and their operation will then enter the optimisation phase, followed by the preparation of a construction licence application for the first stage of the repository.
We are seeking an experienced professional for the planning of underground facilities. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Managing projects related to the integral planning of the repository, focusing on the layout of underground facilities (Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA) phases 31-33).
2. Documenting results for each SIA phase.
3. Managing external contractors and collaborating with them to prepare documentation for the construction licence application.
4. Planning and managing your projects effectively.
5. Developing the basis for internal decision-making.
6. Communicating results to authorities and experts.
Your professional and personal qualifications should include:
* A technical or university degree in civil engineering or a related field, preferably with expertise in underground construction.
* Several years of experience in planning and executing underground or tunnel construction projects.
* Interest or experience in digital integral planning, such as BIM and requirements engineering.
* Project management experience in major projects is advantageous.
* Ability to work well in interdisciplinary teams.
* An independent, responsible personality with high social competence.
* Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
* Excellent command of written and spoken English; German language skills are advantageous.
