Job Title: Cost Manager – Major Pharmaceutical Projects
Contract length: 12 months (Possibilty for extension)
Overview:
Are you a seasoned Cost Manager with a track record of steering large-scale pharmaceutical projects to financial success? We are seeking an expert to join a dynamic team, taking a pivotal role in the cost management and financial oversight of high-value capital projects.
You will be the cornerstone of financial control for complex engineering and construction initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on budget by providing robust analysis, forecasting, and reporting. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your expertise within a challenging and rewarding environment, influencing key strategic decisions from project inception to completion.
Responsibilities:
* Driving the entire project cost lifecycle, from initial estimate development through to the establishment of the final control budget.
* Delivering precise and timely cost reports, providing project leadership with the critical data needed for strategic decision-making and corporate reporting.
* Overseeing all aspects of detailed cost management, including Budgets, Commitments, Value of Work Done (VOWD) assessments, Accruals, Estimate to Complete (ETC), and Estimate at Completion (EAC).
* Establishing and managing robust project interface protocols, ensuring clear communication and responsibility across all internal teams, engineering partners, and contractors.
* Ensuring third-party contractors adhere to project control requirements, including payment processes, material trending, productivity analysis, and change management.
* Acting as a key advisor to project leadership, proactively forecasting potential cost overruns or savings and providing data-driven recommendations.
* Analysing the cost implications of all project changes, risks, and opportunities to maintain financial control and manage contingency drawdown.
* Guiding project close-out activities, including asset activation, commercial finalisation, and performance benchmarking.
* Providing leadership and mentorship to other cost engineers within the project team.
Experience:
* A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Quantity Surveying, or demonstrate equivalent professional experience.
* A minimum of 10 years' experience as a Cost Manager, delivering large-scale capital projects (valued over $250M) within the pharmaceutical industry.
* Essential experience working within an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) environment. Previous experience as a client-side representative is highly advantageous.
* Fluency in English is required. Professional proficiency in German (B2 level or higher) is a significant asset.
* Existing right to work in Switzerland is required.
* Exceptional analytical skills with a proven ability to analyse large, complex data sets and articulate key insights to senior management.
* Outstanding communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills, with experience in a global work environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential. Desirable software skills include SAP, SAP Ariba, and Oracle Primavera Unifier.
* An agile and adaptable mindset, with the ability to manage shifting priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
