Job Description
A global life sciences organization is seeking an experienced Application & Systems Engineer (Application Owner) to act as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and the IT organization at the Visp site. This role owns the full lifecycle of assigned applications, including configuration, customization, integration, and ongoing maintenance within the IT landscape.
You will work closely with business owners to gather and translate requirements into effective IT solutions, ensuring alignment with both current and future application functionality. The role requires strong collaboration with cross‑functional IT teams (infrastructure, network, security, enterprise architecture) as well as third‑party vendors.
In this position, you will ensure applications remain compliant, secure, and aligned with organizational standards, while supporting daily operations and contributing to project delivery. You will also be responsible for documentation (e.g., Basic System Design Specification), SLA adherence, and acting as System Owner in line with internal governance.
Additionally, you will contribute to infrastructure‑related activities (e.g., servers, storage, backup), support technology scouting initiatives, and participate in proof‑of‑concept activities to drive continuous improvement and innovation across the IT landscape.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in IT (required)
5–10 years of experience in Application Management and IT System Engineering
Strong understanding of system engineering and system architecture (minimum 5 years in IT)
Proven experience in Application Lifecycle Management (deployment, configuration, optimization, upgrades, troubleshooting, backup/restore)
Knowledge of network, database, application deployment, IT security, and client‑server environments
Experience working with business stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into IT solutions
Ability to manage applications in line with SLAs and OLAs, ensuring stability, availability, and compliance
Experience collaborating with cross‑functional IT teams and external vendors
Strong analytical thinking and structured problem‑solving approach
Understanding of GxP environments
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in dynamic, cross‑functional and multicultural environments
Fluent English and business‑level German
Preferred Requirements
Experience contributing to IT infrastructure standards (e.g., storage, backup, laboratory software)
Exposure to technology scouting and proof of concept activities
Experience in documentation management aligned with IT governance standards
Familiarity with Swiss German (nice to have)
Open, engaging personality with strong collaboration skills across cultures

Location: Visp, Switzerland (Hybrid: 2 days on‑site / 3 days remote)
Work Model: 40% on‑site / 60% remote
