General overview of position:
TASIS Learning Support Specialist provides various learning support programs for students across all divisions of the school.
Specific responsibilities:
* Act as case manager for students in Middle School and High School (Grades 6-12) to monitor progress and communicate with all stakeholders (including parents, students, teachers, therapists, doctors, and tutors).
* Interpret neurodevelopmental evaluations and the implementation of accompanying accommodations indicated in the evaluation report.
* Develop and circulate an Individualized Educational Program (TASIS Learning Support Plan) for each student.
* Facilitate five blocks of Directed Studies cohorts per week which meet four times per week. Provide direct support for students for study skills and academic assignments while providing individualized attention to students’ specific needs.
* Aid students with specific goal setting and monitoring progress of student goals throughout the academic year.
* Prepare written LRC Progress Reports for students four times per academic year.
* Provide ongoing mentoring for teachers to provide them with specific learning support strategies.
* Meet with parents to provide ongoing updates about their children, whenever possible.
* Conduct teacher meetings to discuss the Learning Support Plan, monitor student progress, and to ensure that learning accommodations are being implemented in all classrooms.
* Continuously monitor student progress in Google Classroom and Veracross Student Information System to track database alerts for students who fall below academic expectations.
* Liaise with School Counselors, School Nurses, Residential Life, College Counseling and Dean of Students, whenever necessary.
* Oversee all LRC daily operations whenever scheduled for Office Hours coverage duties (approximately 8 hours per week). Office Hours coverage duties include administrative tasks such as answering phones, making copies, greeting and supporting colleagues and parents who drop by. Also included is monitoring student exams and assisting students with classwork.
* Proctor annual accommodated standardized exams according to scheduled time (IB, AP, ACT, SAT, PSAT, IELTS).
* Participate in individual and team meetings with the LRC Director to discuss individual students within care and general topics relevant to the LRC team.
* Contribute to LRC database management of shared confidential student information in Google Drive.
Educational background and professional experience required:
* Master’s Degree in Education and Teaching Certification in Special Education
* Teaching Certification and experience with evidence-based learning intervention programs
* Postgraduate courses and experience working with students with specific learning disabilities, autism, and ADHD
* Understanding of various developmental ages and how this impacts learning
* Knowledge of academic content in grades 6-12, math and science course content preferred

* Represent TASIS Mission Statement and adhere to the Regolamento per Faculty (Faculty Regulations)
Additional comments:
The Learning Support Specialist might be requested to perform other duties relevant to the position; these duties will be assigned by the School and will be in line with Swiss law provisions.
