The Disease Area Specialist (DAS)/Medical Lead is part of the Medical Team, reports to the Medical organization and provides a bridge between clinical research and the cross-functional Brand Team. Within the local core brand team, the DAS/Medical Lead is the primary scientific and medical expert with significant knowledge of the local clinical environment in the assigned therapeutic area (TA). He/she is responsible for contributing to development of brand strategy and leading execution of medical strategy & tactics for the product and being the principal medical point of contact for regulatory, market access and marketing.

This role is deployed to CAR T and Hematology team. The Medical Lead acts as a core brand team member, while maintaining functional independence.

DAS utilizes an omnichannel approach to customer engagement and works with relevant stakeholders (i.e., field teams, RCO, Medical capabilities) to ensure incorporated development & execution.

DAS fosters significant cross-functional alignment and collaboration with WW Medical, R&D, HEOR, not exhaustively.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development

* Contributes to customer strategy and overall brand strategy development by providing TA and Product-specific scientific, medical, data generation strategies & lifecycle management expertise across customer types
* Develops Brand-focused medical plans to deliver on Brand strategic imperatives and supports the development of the field communication plan
* Develops and maintains deep knowledge of Hematology landscape and BMS CAR T and non-CAR T assets, patient journey, and unmet medical needs.

Medical Tactical Execution

* If required, (re)trains CAR T sites as part of product-specific activation including risk management plan in collaboration with Cell Therapy Operational and Account Manager (CTOAM)
* Acts as local medical point-of-contact in CAR T product out-of-specification process and off-label requests
* Serves as main point-of-contact for Medical capabilities (evidence generation, including HEOR, Scientific Communications and Engagement)
* Conducts key medical affairs projects (e.g, Advisory Boards, Satellite Symposia, scientific roundtables, etc.) and secures continuous medical education activities and other medical education.
* Oversees production of Brand/ TA-aligned Medical content for all customer types, leveraging an agile and modular content production process
* Drives asset-level medical evidence generation based on integrated Evidence Planning, with input from cross-functional teams
* Ensures content delivery and support for Medical Field roles
* Supports clinical development including Phase I-IV trials, primarily for local country and site and Investigator-Sponsored Research/clinical Research Collaborations as appropriate.
* The Disease Area Specialist will engage in scientific and educational dialogue with the (inter)national top TLs in the local market, share relevant clinical evidence based on the physicians' needs and in accordance with the medical plan and gather medical insights
* Ensures legal and compliance requirements are met.
* Ensures patient safety by compliance with pharmacovigilance rules and procedures.
* Is responsible for budget planning of medical activities within brand team(s)

Required Qualifications & Experience

* Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD), fluent German and English
* Relevant scientific expertise and familiarity with Hematology and Oncology landscape:
* Scientific or clinical area, patient treatment trends, clinical landscape
* Pharmaceutical industry including compliance and regulatory guidelines
* Ability to navigate and build relationships across teams, including across functions and capabilities (e.g., Field Medical, Medical capabilities, Commercial, BI&A, Access, Corp./Patient affairs)
* Ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally (e.g., drive Integrated Evidence Planning, contribute to all customer-oriented strategies)
* Ensure creation of medical content, along with Scientific Communications & Engagement
* Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to lead teams

Medical Excellence

* Has expert knowledge of key Medical processes and capabilities (e.g., real world evidence, scientific communications, congresses, medical information, advisory boards)
* Has a track record of developing and executing on medical tactics
* Has experience leading integrated evidence planning with a cross functional team
* Takes an ownership role in leading the execution of BMS -sponsored medical affairs trials, within standards for compliance, timeline, budget
* Has experience collaborating with field medical teams to define, guide and execution regional therapeutic strategies and tactics

Analytical fluency

* Demonstrates strong analytical skills and ability to interpret insights from data and analytics
* Drives sophisticated analytics, along with BI&A partner to understand customer segments and provide input into customer journeys
* Maintains a robust set of metrics / KPIs in partnership with BI&A to track omnichannel campaign performance and ensure a feedback loop to inform on-going omnichannel strategies
* Ensures medical tactics are executed within timelines, budget and compliance standards

Teamwork/ agile

* Fosters a collaborative environment and creates strong rapport to effectively partner with cross-functional stakeholders
* Demonstrates comfort working in a flexible and agile operating model
