An exciting opportunity exists for a world-class Facility Manager to join our newly created luxury travel brand, “Explora Journeys”. Reporting to the Hotel Maintenance Engineer and aligned with the objectives set by the Chief Engineer, General Manager, and Staff Captain, the Facility Manager will oversee the front-of-house hotel upkeep workflow, aiming to minimize guest and crew discomfort.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Reports to: Hotel Maintenance Engineer (direct), Chief Engineer, General Manager, Staff Captain (accountable), Flying Team Manager (on board)
Direct Reports: Chief Carpenter, Upholsterer, Flying Team members (on board)
1. Implement, instruct, and promote company policies concerning safety, safe working practices, injury prevention, and pollution control.
2. Lead the efficient and cooperative operation of all assigned team members under the direction of the Hotel Maintenance Engineer.
3. Ensure effective planned and reactive maintenance of the hotel front-of-house areas.
4. Implement company policies regarding ship safety, pollution prevention, and injury prevention for crew and passengers.
5. Co-represent the Technical Department during hotel technical meetings, ensuring strategic alignment with Explora Journeys' objectives and compliance with company standards.
6. Plan, coordinate, and inspect the progress of all hotel upkeep works, ensuring optimal resource utilization and waste minimization.
7. Plan daily work schedules, ensure availability of proper consumables, and manage shore support workflows discreetly.
8. Operate with a primary focus on guest comfort, which is a core company value.
9. Minimum 3 years’ experience as Chief Carpenter or equivalent.
10. Extensive knowledge of material selection and maintenance practices for furniture and furnishings.
11. Ability to work independently, influence management decisions, and schedule team work effectively.
12. Previous experience on luxury cruise vessels is highly regarded.
13. Possess a valid passport and seaman book.
VISA REQUIREMENTS (if any)
Computer literacy, proficiency in basic Windows programs, and ability to operate office equipment. Proficient in English; additional European languages are advantageous.
