Ph3About The Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) /h3 pThe Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) is a national research infrastructure of the ETH domain in data science and artificial intelligence (AI), with EPFL and ETH Zurich as founding partners. Its mandate is to support academic labs, hospitals, industry and public sector stakeholders, including cantonal and federal administrations, through their entire data science journey, from the collection and management of data to machine learning, AI, and industrialization. With a large multidisciplinary team of professionals across three locations (Lausanne, Zurich, Villigen), the SDSC provides expertise and services across domains such as health and biomedical sciences, energy and sustainability, climate and environment, and large‑scale scientific infrastructure. /p pThe candidate will be integrated into a dynamic and rich environment, with people from different fields and expertise, and will be part of SDSC's Research team. The Research team at SDSC comprises more than 35 data scientists, seeking to apply novel AI/ML methods to solve real‑world problems in the academic and public sectors. See for an idea of some of our academic research collaborations. /p h3Mission /h3 pAs a Data Scientist working in the Research team of the Swiss Data Science Center, you will help researchers and other collaborators in academia or the public sector in Switzerland to leverage state‑of‑the‑art Machine Learning and AI methods. These collaborators encompass various fields and carry out projects involving diverse data (tabular, textual, visual, potentially multi‑modal), notably in health and biomedical sciences, climate and environment, energy and sustainability, and social sciences. /p pThis typically involves exchanging actively with collaborators and domain experts to understand the precise desiderata of the project, determining which approaches, formulations, and models are most effective to achieve the desired goals, implementing the corresponding algorithms, performing the evaluation hand‑in‑hand with collaborators, and releasing open‑source code and writing research papers when appropriate. /p h3Main Duties And Responsibilities Include /h3 ul liWorking on data science projects with collaborators from the academic and public sector /li liEngaging with diverse stakeholders, in particular researchers across various domains and other professionals /li liPreparing scientific publications for top‑tier domain conferences and journals in collaboration with Senior Data Scientists /li liPotentially supervising students at different levels in collaboration with Senior Data Scientists /li /ul h3Your profile /h3 ul liMSc in a Data Science‑related field, or in Computer Science with a strong background in Machine Learning and AI /li liExperience in designing/selecting and training Machine Learning models for different types of data, including tabular, textual, visual, and potentially multi‑modal /li liProficiency in Python and PyTorch /li liExperience in applying data science and AI in interdisciplinary research or industrial collaborations /li liCreative mindset and good concrete problem solving skills /li /ul h3We offer /h3 h3Work Environment /h3 ul liA stimulating, dynamic, diverse, and cross‑disciplinary environment /li liNice offices located on the EPFL and on the Biopole campuses /li /ul h3Professional development /h3 ul liOpportunities to broaden your expertise in ML and AI targeted to diverse application domains /li liCollaborations with experts in both Data Science and domain sciences /li liOpportunities to publish contributions to research projects in high‑impact venues /li liPossibility to travel and present work in international venues /li /ul h3Informations /h3 pContract Start Date : 01/08/2025 /p pActivity Rate : 100.00 /p pContract Type: CDD /p pDuration: 1 year renewable /p pReference: 2270 /p h3Contact /h3 pFor questions regarding the position, please contact Mathieu Salzmann ( ) or Guillaume Obozinski ( ). /p /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
