The Position The R&D Near Patient Care System Integration & Verification team is offering a unique, four-month internship opportunity in the critical field of biomedical laboratory diagnostics. You will join a dynamic team at the forefront of blood gas analysis technology, helping healthcare professionals make critical, life-saving decisions in emergency rooms, intensive care units, and operating rooms. The Opportunity This role is strategically positioned to offer exposure to both new product development and the on market support of our established BGA portfolio, giving you a comprehensive view of the IVD lifecycle. As our intern, you will: Support High-Impact Lab Studies: Work directly with the lab team to design, execute, and analyze studies using human whole blood samples on both newly developed prototypes and established, on-market BGA instruments. Drive Independent Investigations (R&D focus): Take ownership of planning and executing your own technical study. This could involve optimizing sample preparation protocols using whole blood or conducting targeted performance investigations on specific prototype devices and modules. Develop Technical Expertise: Master the operation of advanced BGA instruments, apply systematic troubleshooting skills, and learn to critically interpret complex diagnostic data. Who You Are We are looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented student ready to contribute immediately in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Education: You are currently enrolled in a degree program in Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics, Medical Technology, Biotechnology, or a related Life Science field. Technical Skills: You are trained in basic laboratory techniques and demonstrate a meticulous, systematic approach to experimental work and data documentation. Working with Samples: You are comfortable and willing to work hands-on with human-based samples (specifically whole blood) and adhere strictly to all safety and quality protocols. Mindset: You possess strong analytical skills, are proactive in problem-solving, and enjoy working collaboratively within an international R&D team. Health Requirement: A valid vaccination for Hepatitis B, as well as a titer demonstrating adequate immunity, is required before the start of the internship on April 1st. Please ensure you can provide this documentation. Additional information: Focus: System integration, performance verification, and advanced testing of Blood Gas Analyzers (BGA). Location: Rotkreuz, Switzerland (On-site position). Duration: 4 months, commencing April 1st and ending July 31st.
