Job Description: Desktop Support Engineer (Mac & Windows)
Location: Basel
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Engineer with strong experience in both Mac OS and Windows environments. The role involves providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, and support for hardware, software, and network-related issues. The candidate should be adept at managing end-user devices, ensuring smooth IT operations, and delivering high-quality customer support.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide first- and second-level technical support for users on Mac and Windows platforms.
* Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems, applications, and hardware devices.
* Maintain and support peripherals such as printers, scanners, and external drives.
* Support email clients, Office 365, VPN, and collaboration tools (Zoom, Teams, etc.).
* Manage user accounts, permissions, and access through Active Directory / MDM solutions.
* Perform system upgrades, patching, and regular maintenance on desktops and laptops.
* Document incidents, troubleshooting steps, and solutions in the ticketing system.
* Collaborate with IT teams on network, server, and security issues as needed.
* Train and guide users on best practices for system use, security, and productivity tools.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
* 3–5 years of desktop support or IT helpdesk experience.
* Strong hands-on knowledge of Mac OS (macOS) and Windows 10/11 troubleshooting.
* Experience with Active Directory, MDM tools (e.g., Jamf, Intune), and ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.).
* Familiarity with networking basics (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, VPN).
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
* Knowledge of mobile device management (iOS, Android).
* Experience with remote support tools (TeamViewer, AnyDesk, Bomgar).
* IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), or Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) are a plus.
