Vivtex develops better and safer oral therapeutics through continuous innovation using advanced gastrointestinal tissue high throughput assays, formulation techniques, and computational models. The company originated based on a groundbreaking GI tissue screening technology from MIT invented by Robert Langer, Giovanni Traverso, and Thomas von Erlach. Through strategic partnerships with major global pharmaceutical and leading biotechnology companies, Vivtex has managed to advance multiple new oral therapeutics towards the clinic with drastically shorter development times and better oral exposure compared to the existing state of the art. Vivtex is determined to continuously expand its technology platform to further accelerate the creation of best-in-class next generation oral drugs. The company has a rapidly growing team and research sites in both Boston, MA and Zurich, Switzerland.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Scientist / Senior Scientist to play a central role in advancing Vivtex’s drug delivery platform.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on experimentalist who can operate effectively at the bench while contributing to operational and strategic decision‑making across programs.
You will work at the interface of formulation, bioanalysis, and in vivo pharmacokinetics, collaborating cross‑functionally to drive programs from early discovery through preclinical evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
Bioanalysis & Analytical Integration
Develop and apply LC‑MS/MS methods to support formulation screening and PK studies
Execute and optimize sample preparation workflows
Interpret analytical data to guide formulation optimization and decision‑making
Design and/or coordinate in vivo PK studies
Interface with external partners and CROs for PK studies and analytical workstreams
Design, develop, and optimize oral formulations, in vitro
Translate screening outputs into robust, scalable formulations suitable for in vivo and preclinical development
Evaluate and rationally select excipients and formulation strategies to enhance permeability, stability, and bioavailability
Required Qualifications
PhD in Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences
1–3 years of relevant industry experience
Hands‑on experience with LC‑MS method development, sample preparation, and quantitative analysis
Strong experimental design, data analysis, and problem‑solving skills
Experience with overseeing and executing PK studies, including bioanalysis
Experience working with or managing CROs
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Experience in a fast‑paced biotech environment
Proven capability to communicate complex technical concepts, demonstrated by a history of publishing in recognized industry journals.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in oral peptide or complex molecule delivery
Prior experience leading small teams or mentoring junior scientists
Exposure to computational approaches, data science, or AI/ML‑driven analysis
Background in oral formulation development, with a solid foundation in chemistry
Demonstrated ability to work across disciplines and contribute to cross‑functional teams
What We’re Looking For
A scientist who can translate concepts into prototypes
Someone who operates effectively at both a tactical (lab execution) and strategic (program‑level thinking) level
A collaborative team player who is excited working across functions and disciplines
A candidate who takes ownership and drives progress in a dynamic environment
Location
This position is based in Schlieren (Zurich), Switzerland, with an expectation of regular onsite presence and flexibility for occasional remote work.
