We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead - Procurement Category Manager, Logistics to join the Global Logistics Procurement Team in Zurich. The team is responsible for procurement of inbound transportation, warehousing/contract logistics, outbound distribution, and other logistics services, and is part of the Global Supply Chain Team.
This role involves solving problems at scale, leading strategic sourcing projects—including strategy development, tendering, negotiation, data analysis, and business case presentations—and supporting operational teams with contract execution. The ideal candidate will drive procurement transformation within their category, collaborating with global teams (Warehouse and Distribution, Inbound Transportation, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal) and regional operations (Americas, APAC, EMEIA).
Your Mission Manage end-to-end category strategy to meet logistics cost and quality goals through procurement of freight services and contract logistics.
Contribute proactively to category strategy development in collaboration with supply chain teams and external partners.
Create and drive procurement added value to enhance global logistics strategy (cost, risks, compliance).
Lead sourcing activities for all transportation modes (ocean, air, road, FCL, LTL), including requirements fine-tuning, analysis, awarding, and negotiations.
Collaborate with the Global Inbound Transportation Team to improve procurement of inbound flows.
Work with regional teams to establish procurement standards for outbound flows (last mile, parcels, returns, LTL, B2C, B2B).
Lead procurement activities for contract logistics and warehouse services.
Support procurement transformation initiatives across various internal stakeholders.
Prepare, analyze, and manage RFPs/bids for renewals and new projects.
Develop procurement requirements and standards, providing market intelligence and financial analysis.
Monitor logistics costs and advise on negotiations and tenders.
Your Profile Minimum 7 years of experience in contract logistics (warehousing) and/or transportation procurement (small parcel, global ocean, groupage, LTL, air, freight forwarding).
Ability to work independently with a continuous improvement mindset.
Proficiency in Google tools and Microsoft Office (especially Sheets, Slides, PowerPoint, Excel).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
Experience working with internal teams and external suppliers at all levels.
Track record of managing complex projects and leading transformation initiatives.
Comfortable in dynamic environments, managing ambiguity.
Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
Strong time management skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
