Main goal
Reporting to the Chief Counsel, the Legal Counsel provides legal support for UEFA’s internal and competition-related ICT and technology needs and functions.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-day lead responsibility for the delivery of legal input, advice and transactional support in relation to: UEFA.com – the development and operation of uefa.com (including development of apps, hosting arrangements, and specific website activities - but excluding marketing of media rights or sponsorship commercial programme-related matters);
Digital Media Production/Platform – all supply and related agreements to support the development of an OTT media platform by the Digital Production team;
Corporate and event (eg. football competition) related ICT supply and implementation – all supply and related agreements (excluding consultant hire) to support the needs of the ICT unit. This includes all procurement tenders and contracts for the supply of ICT services and hardware and will require continuing liaison with the ICT unit;
Football Operations technology, eg. GLT, VAR, optical tracking (under the direction of the Chief Counsel)
Protecting UEFA's larger/overall interests from a business affairs perspective;
Supervise and manage the work of the junior lawyer in the Technology legal services team (includes participating in the setting and appraisal of objectives as well as the delegation to and supervision of the junior lawyer in the team who supports both the technology legal services and the media production legal services functions - management and supervision will be required to be co-ordinated and shared with the Legal Counsel responsible for media production matters);
Cooperating and communicating with other lawyers within the Commercial & Technology Legal Services unit (and other units of the Legal Affairs Division as needed) to ensure the coordination and consistency of UEFA’s policies and compliance with UEFA commercial programmes and projects;
Keeping the Chief Counsel fully informed of activities, workflows and progress.
Requirements
Experience: From 6 to 9 years of post-qualification experience as a qualified practicing commercial lawyer, with:
Strong core legal technical knowledge and skills, ideally trained with a leading law firm
Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills and experience in relation to a broad range of technical technology product and service contracts;
Expertise and specific working experience in relation to ICT services and hardware supply agreements and procurement
Familiarity with related areas such as GDPR is an advantage but not a core requirement (UEFA’s Data Protection Officers work within other units) – data privacy law expertise is NOT the required core expertise and skill set.
Education:
Undergraduate law degree, or equivalent higher education diploma required to qualify as a lawyer
Law school/postgraduate professional legal qualification
Must be qualified and currently licensed to practice as a lawyer in a relevant jurisdiction/current member of a legal bar association
Languages:
English: Fluent
Any other European languages would be a plus

Familiarity with sports/football is not required but could be an advantage
