Visits & Events Officer (CHEG26-006997)
This is an engaging role at the heart of the Mission’s work, based within the Communications Team.
You will be responsible for coordinating the programme of visits to Geneva by high level UK visitors, including Ministers, Members of Parliament, senior officials, and other VIPs, in support of the UK’s multilateral objectives.
You will also support the planning and delivery of a busy programme of official events for the Ambassador and Senior Leadership team, including receptions, panel discussions, and policy focused engagements.
The role requires cross-Mission collaboration, building strong relationships with policy teams, senior leadership, the residence and corporate services to ensure visits and events are professionally delivered and aligned with UK priorities.
You will also build and maintain strong, effective relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders, including international organisations, other permanent missions, protocol counterparts, and partners in Geneva and London. The successful delivery of visits and events depends on managing a broad network of partners, requiring strong relationship management skills, sound judgement, and discretion.

What is this job about?
High-profile visits
* Coordinate visits to Geneva by Ministers, Senior Officials, and other VIPs.
* Lead selected visits from start to finish arranging accommodation, transport, accreditation, and security.
* Work closely with policy teams to build meaningful programmes, schedule meetings and secure venues.
* Partner with the Transport & Logistics team to manage arrivals and departures, and accompany visitors throughout their schedule to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Official events
* Plan and deliver a wide range of official events with the Ambassador and their Private Office (from receptions and panel discussions to policy-focused gatherings).
* Organise hospitality at the UK Residence, the Mission and external venues.
* Prepare guest lists, send invitations, and coordinate with the Residence team on all Residence-based events.
* Keep the events calendar up to date and take part in weekly planning meetings.
* Provide hands‑on support during events, welcoming guests, managing last‑minute changes and liaising directly with the Ambassador’s contacts.
* Lead on delivering the Mission’s flagship annual event, the King’s Birthday Party (KBP).
* Work with the Residence team to strengthen event processes, ensuring consistently high-quality delivery and value for money.
Programme coordination
* Keep oversight of all upcoming visits and events to help the Mission prioritise effectively and avoid scheduling clashes.
* Advise colleagues on shaping visit and event proposals that support the UK’s objectives in the multilateral system.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
* Excellent command of spoken and written English (at a minimum of C1 level according to CEFR*).
* Previous solid experience in events management or a related role (minimum of 3 years’ experience).
* Qualified in Communications, Events Management, Business Administration, Hospitality or a related field.
* Proven ability to use software tools effectively, including Microsoft 365 suite (Excel, Planner) for event planning and tracking, and event management platforms (i.e. Zkipster).
* Strong attention to detail, with the ability to deliver accurate and high quality work.
* Effective time management skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise responsibilities.
* Confidence in engaging with colleagues and external contacts at all levels, including senior stakeholders.
* Flexibility and adaptability in response to changing priorities.
* Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and deliver results at pace.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
* Written and spoken French (at a B1 level according to CEFR*).
* An interest in multilateral diplomacy.
* Knowledge of British culture or soft power.
* Experience working in another mission or international organization.
