Job Description
You will participate in the inspection and maintenance of electro‑mechanical DC switching systems as well as in the installation and performance validation test of new equipment. This includes execution of tests, production of specific test equipment, component ordering, mounting, unmounting and service of the electro‑mechanical parts.
Your responsibilities
* Contribute to the assembly of interface cables and mechanical structures.
* Participate in the CAD design of components for the section.
* Participate in the assembly of backplanes and test/debug electronic circuits.
* Provide support with the procurement of components.
* Participate to the regular maintenance of the high‑current energy extraction systems in the LHC such as inspection and maintenance of mechanical components, measurement and correction of the geometrical parameters, measurement and fine tuning of the electrical characteristics, execute the individual system tests.
Your profile
* Initial experience in the field of Electricity, Electrotechnics, Electronics or mechatronics.
Skills
* Basic knowledge in electricity, electrotechnics or electronics.
* Technical skills in mounting and dismounting mechanical parts and elements.
* Soldering of electronic/electrical low‑voltage components, printed circuit boards, connectors.
* Good communication skills to effectively share information and provide technical support.
* Ability to write reports and organise and execute electrical/electronic validation tests would be an advantage.
* Knowledge of how to use measurement instrumentation, debugging of equipment, providing solutions will be an advantage.
* Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.
Eligibility criteria
* You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
* By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma.
* You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
* Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
