Job Description:
We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join the L&H Actuarial Valuation team for Continental Europe (CE). This role offers the opportunity to take responsibility for financial reporting and in-force management of our life and health (L&H) business across several markets.
About the role
Key responsibilities include:
1. Provide quality reserve and income statement submissions for internal and external reporting (local and Swiss statutory, IFRS 17).
2. Apply actuarial judgement to challenging or subjective areas, such as valuation assumption setting.
3. Support the review and consolidation of results for the entire CE region and communicate these results clearly.
4. Participate in management activities from an actuarial perspective and manage the in-force portfolio proactively.
5. Collaborate with other functions (Finance, Products, Client Markets) as a key team member.
6. Communicate results to internal stakeholders effectively.
7. Support and coordinate workflow for junior team members as needed.
About You
Qualifications and skills:
1. Qualified or part-qualified Actuary with progress towards qualification (study package provided). Preferably with over 3 years of experience in L&H re/insurance.
2. Understanding of policy liabilities calculation methods.
3. Knowledge of IFRS17 reporting framework.
4. Ability to build relationships across disciplines and work effectively within the L&H value chain.
5. Ability to manage workload and seek guidance when necessary.
6. Strong communication skills, capable of presenting and discussing results with stakeholders.
7. Proficient in MS Excel; knowledge of MS Power BI or database software is a plus.
8. Excellent written and verbal English skills.
About the team
The CE Actuarial valuation team, part of L&H Group Risk Management EMEA, comprises about 35 members across Zurich, Bangalore, and London. The team covers all L&H business in European markets, working with diverse internal stakeholders. Objectives include delivering transparent quarterly financials, actively managing the in-force portfolio, and improving operational efficiency, including system and process alignment.
