Overview
Director, Medical Writing, Oncology at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine. This role may be posted across multiple countries and may have different requisition numbers to comply with local requirements. You Will Be Responsible For
* Assume overall accountability for decision-making within the organization or therapeutic area, aligning with strategic goals.
* Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to improve project outcomes.
* Write or guide others on clinical, regulatory, and safety documents, leading content and scientific strategy with independence.
* Represent the Medical Writing department in R&D discussions with senior cross-functional colleagues and external partners to improve coordination.
* Lead or set objectives for team projects and tasks, including program-level, submission, indication, and disease-area writing teams.
* Serve as a liaison between team members and senior leadership within a therapeutic area or sub-function.
* Develop, implement, and drive departmental process improvements and best practices in collaboration with Communities of Practice and Business Process Owners.
* Mentor, support, and coach staff on document planning, processes, and content; provide peer review as needed.
* Maintain knowledge of industry, company, and regulatory guidelines within relevant systems; participate in industry standards working groups to ensure alignment with best practices.
* Set strategy and operational execution for their portfolio(s) within the Medical Writing team, in line with Delivery Unit priorities and TA objectives.
* Provide leadership to writing teams, attract and develop talent, ensure organizational effectiveness, transparency, and communication.
* Foster an engaging, empowered work environment and take on major responsibilities with high quality standards; may represent MW at high-level meetings and step in for DU Head when necessary.
* Supervise/direct reports, set objectives, provide performance feedback, and support staff development and talent management.
Qualifications / Requirements
* A university/college degree in a scientific discipline is required; an advanced degree (e.g., Masters, PhD, MD) is preferred.
* Minimum of 14 years of relevant pharmaceutical/scientific experience.
* Minimum of 12 years of relevant clinical/medical writing experience.
* Minimum of 5 years of people management experience.
* Expertise in project management and process improvement; strong decision-making, strategic thinking, agility, and broad vision.

The expected pay range for this position is $160,000 to $276,000. The Company maintains competitive, performance-based compensation programs, including potential annual bonuses.
