Senior Manager Procurement APIs and Excipients

Part of the Supply Chain Procurement team, reporting into Chemicals Procurement

Role reports to: Director, Procurement APIs and Specialty ingredients

Location: Zug, Switzerland

Travel %: 20%

What You Will Do

In this role, together with your team, you will develop and implement procurement policies and procedures for APIs and excipients: establish strategic supplier relationships, negotiate long-term contracts, drive operational excellence and ensure compliance with regulatory policies. Additionally, you will oversee vendor selection and quote assignments aligned with portfolio strategy to drive value generation. you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient supply of APIS for our consumer health products and manage team. Your responsibilities will span global category management, risk mitigation, compliance management and vendor relationship management.

Senior Manager APIs will support implementation of the Global Category API strategies, ensuring the projects are delivered on time and at the right cost.

Key Responsibilities:

• Global Category Management:

o Develop and execute a robust global category strategy for APIs.

o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement goals with business objectives.

o Continuously monitor market trends, supplier performance, and technological advancements in the API industry.

o Understand business needs and recommend the right supply set up according to our strategies

o Ensure cross-functional alignment

o Engage and negotiate with suppliers

o Participate actively in the projects' execution

• Strategy Development and Execution:

o Formulate procurement strategies that optimize cost, Cash,quality, and delivery timelines.

o Drive initiatives to enhance supply chain resilience and reduce risks associated with API sourcing.

o Implement best practices to improve overall procurement efficiency.

• Negotiation Skills:

o Exhibit strong negotiation skills while dealing with suppliers and contract terms.

o Secure favorable pricing, terms, and conditions for API procurement.

• Analytical Skills:

o Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions.

o Analyze market dynamics, pricing trends, and supplier performance metrics.

• Financial Tools Familiarity:

o Proficient in using financial tools such as Anaplan, SAP, and MMF for budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

o Drive Y-o-Y productivity and scanning for new opportunities

• Vendor Relationship Management:

o Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with API suppliers.

o Collaborate closely with vendors to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any issues promptly.

• Risk Management:

o Identify and assess risks related to API supply, geopolitical factors, and regulatory changes.

o Develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions.

• Contract Management:

o Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts with API suppliers.

o Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

• Regulatory Understanding:

o Stay abreast of regulations governing APIs in regulated markets (e.g., FDA, EMA).

o Ensure compliance with quality standards and documentation requirements.

• Supply and Demand Dynamics:

o Maintain a thorough understanding of supply and demand dynamics in the API market.

o Anticipate market fluctuations and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications:

o Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in procurement / supply chain, with a focus on APIs and Excipients in Selfcare or Pharmaceutical industry.

o Bachelor's / Master's degree or equivalent in a related field

o Strong negotiation and contract management skills

o Proven track record of delivering cost savings, operational excellence & process improvements

o Experience leading and developing high-performing teams

o Experience in developing and implementing supplier operational excellence management program(s)

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders

o Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills

o Knowledge of business regulatory policies related to the Pharma and OTC industry

o Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams of different hierarchical levels and build strong relationships with suppliers

o Excellent budget management and cost control skills and knowledge on financial tools

o Proven track record of successfully managing teams and projects

Desired Qualifications

o Preferred Related Industry Experience: Broad Healthcare & Life Sciences (preferable), Personal Care or Chemical industries
