Roles & Responsibilities
* Lead in vitro assay development
* Identify and investigate PD biomarkers relevant to disease and drug intervention
* Develop & design experiments and research plans to elucidate therapeutic mechanisms of action
* Conduct and troubleshoot a wide range of biological / molecular / biochemical assays including, but not limited to: FACS, ELISAs, RT-PCR, Western blotting, co-IPs
* Manage / participate in CRO relationships
* Mentoring of junior colleagues
* Document, analyze, interpret, and present experimental data clearly, contributing to data room and investor presentations
* Independently research new technologies and approaches to apply to drug discovery and development
* Present at high-level conferences, draft and submit manuscripts, contribute to grant writing
In daily practice…
* Set up the lab and establish best practices
* Plan and design experiments with clear milestones
* Perform validation assays and preclinical experiments
* Analyze data and prepare reports
* Manage CRO interactions and vendor relationships for preclinical studies
* Organize laboratory operations, develop SOPs, maintain equipment, order supplies, and keep detailed records
Profile
Required Qualifications
* PhD with 3-8 years of recent lab-based biotech/pharma experience
* Experience with human and mouse biomarkers
* Experience with protein assay platforms (ELISA, Luminex, MSD, etc.)
* Experience with flow cytometry methods and interpretation (immunophenotyping, cell markers)
* Ability to plan and execute molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques in 96-well format
* Able to work independently and troubleshoot, while following directions
* Strong attention to detail and record keeping
* Team player, understanding collaborative goals in a start-up environment
* Flexible to adapt work plans to changing priorities and deadlines
* Must possess a valid work permit in Switzerland
Preferred Qualifications
* Background in fibrosis, immunology/inflammation, cytokines, growth factors, extracellular matrix biology
* Experience working with biotherapeutics and multimodal approaches
* Experience with phenotypic assay development (flow cytometry and microscopy)
* Experience with high throughput screening methods (phenotype, microscopy, ELISA)
* Experience in immunohistochemistry (IHC)
