High-Voltage Cable Engineer
BakerHicks is a leading consultancy in the power transmission and distribution sector in the UK. We are expanding our power team in the DACH region and are seeking an ambitious High-voltage Cable Engineer to support this growth.
You will be an experienced engineer in the design and planning of high voltage cable systems from 11kV to 400kV, onshore or offshore. Responsibilities include producing cable system design calculations, cable rating calculations, thermomechanical and electromagnetic force calculations, and collaborating with CAD technicians on cable route layouts and trench cross sections.
You must have full professional proficiency in German and a good command of English.

Key Responsibilities
1. Provide high voltage cable systems and installation designs, acting as lead cable engineer/planner.
2. Work closely with UK design teams to ensure compliance with local standards.
3. Ensure project deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
Your Profile
* Experience in design, calculations, reports, and drawings for HV power transmission systems, HVDC interconnectors, or HV renewable energy infrastructure in the DACH region.
* Full professional proficiency in German and a good level of English.
* Specialist knowledge in High Voltage Substations.
* Willingness to travel occasionally to BakerHicks offices in Basel and London.
Travel and Work Environment
Projects typically last between 6 and 24 months. Work locations are mainly at customer sites, with options for remote work in consultation with project management. Employees will have the chance to work with diverse clients and technologies, exploring new cities while enjoying weekends at home.
