Analytical Associate in Analytical Development for Synthetic Molecule (f/m/d)

We are looking for a qualified Analytical Associate in Analytical Development for Synthetic Molecule, focusing on chromatography, analytical instrumentation and techniques, GxP, and analytical method development, with proficiency in English and German.


Project

For our customer, a large pharmaceutical company in Basel, we seek a qualified professional to contribute to the development of synthetic molecules and support analytical development activities.


Background

Pharma Technical Development (PTD) is a global team of over 2,000 experts focused on developing innovative medicines. Within PTD, Synthetic Molecules Technical Development (PTDC) specializes in drug substance, drug product, and analytical sciences. PTDC is instrumental in advancing the synthetic molecules pipeline, supporting research, early development, and clinical trials through technical innovation and collaboration. This opportunity lies within analytical development for synthetic molecules, where cutting‑edge techniques such as high‑performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, ion chromatography, and mass spectrometry are employed to develop efficient and robust analytical methods. The goal is to ensure the release of clinical trial products and their eventual commercial supply through a strong control strategy.


The Perfect Candidate

A solid vocational qualification or a bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field, with 1‑3 years of hands‑on experience in analytical method development within the pharmaceutical industry. Proficient in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, and KF, applying GxP principles confidently, with strong scientific writing and documentation skills. Innovative, quality‑driven mindset, adaptability, digital fluency, reliability, and a proactive, collaborative approach in a dynamic environment.


Tasks & Responsibilities

* Development, improvement and validation of analytical methods for the quality assessment of starting materials, intermediates, reaction monitoring, active substances and galenical forms.
* Planning, execution and documentation of experiments in collaboration with the relevant team members, analytical project lead and supervisor, following current GxP guidelines and SOPs.
* Work on end‑to‑end processes in close collaboration with other associates, scientists, and partners from other departments to ensure efficient analytics and continuous improvement.
* Coordination of analytical activities including sample management for the development of synthetic products.
* Authoring of documents, e.g., analytical procedures and validation reports.
* Routine application of GxP requirements where necessary and understanding their implementation in different clinical phases.


Must Haves

* Solid vocational qualification with at least 1‑3 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry focused on analytical methods development (chromatography), or a bachelor’s degree (Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related field).
* Hands‑on experience in analytical instrumentation and techniques (HPLC, GC, KF).
* Routine application of GxP requirements where necessary and understanding their implementation in different clinical phases.
* Excellent command of English; good command of German is a plus.
* Strong interest/background in analytical methods development.
* Good scientific writing style and documentation practice for regulatory filings.
* Excellent digital skills and innovative mindset.
* Preparedness to learn, continuously improve and apply novel ideas, tools and processes to adapt quickly to a fast‑changing environment.
* Self‑motivated, open‑minded, proactive, reliable, goal‑oriented and an excellent team player.
* Strong quality mindset and excellent attention to detail.
