Lead strategic pharmaceutical projects in one of Europe’s leading life sciences hubs.
We are currently supporting the recruitment of a Project Manager for a consulting assignment based in Basel, Switzerland, within a major international pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
This role offers the opportunity to manage complex CAPEX and engineering projects across highly regulated GMP facilities, working directly with multidisciplinary teams, engineering partners and client stakeholders.
The position is suited to experienced project professionals who combine strong technical understanding, stakeholder management and operational coordination within pharmaceutical or biotech environments.
The Role As a Project Manager, you will oversee project execution from early engineering and design phases through construction, coordination and delivery.
Working directly on client site, you will ensure alignment between engineering, procurement, construction and operational stakeholders while maintaining project objectives related to scope, timeline, quality and compliance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading day-to-day project execution activities across engineering, procurement and construction
Coordinating multidisciplinary teams, contractors, vendors and client representatives
Monitoring project schedules, milestones and deliverables
Supporting budget management, cost control and change management activities
Managing contractor coordination and on-site project activities
Facilitating project meetings and communicating progress updates to stakeholders
Maintaining project documentation, reporting and project governance standards
Ensuring compliance with GMP requirements, safety procedures and site standards
Supporting constructability, feasibility and technical review activities
Coordinating resolution of technical and operational project issues
Technical Environment Projects may involve:
Pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities
Cleanroom and aseptic environments
Utilities and process systems
WFI, clean steam and HVAC systems
CAPEX expansion projects
CQV and validation-related activities
FDA and GMP-regulated environments
Experience within pharmaceutical, biotech or other highly regulated industries is strongly preferred.
Candidate Profile We are looking for professionals capable of combining project leadership with strong relationship management and adaptability within client environments.
Ideal candidates will typically have:
Minimum 5 years of experience in project management within pharmaceutical, biotech or regulated industrial environments
Strong experience managing CAPEX, construction or engineering projects
Good understanding of GMP / cGMP requirements
Engineering background or degree in a relevant technical discipline
Experience coordinating contractors, engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders
Strong organizational and communication skills
Excellent English communication skills (mandatory)
Ability to operate effectively within fast-paced international project environments
More senior profiles with 10+ years of experience are highly valued.
Candidates transitioning from senior process engineering roles into project management are also encouraged to apply.
Contract Details Location: Basel, Switzerland
Contract Type: 12-month renewable consulting assignment
Work Model: On-site within the client environment
Rate: 90–120 CHF/hour depending on experience
Flexible start date
