The Shift Lead works in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures and under the guidance of the Director of Safety and Security and/or the Public Safety Supervisor. /p pThe Shift Lead is expected to lead calmly and professionally during routine operations, incidents, and emergencies. This role coordinates resources, supports de-escalation, and delivers a welcoming, service-oriented presence for guests, visitors, and staff. /p h3Compensation /h3 p$17.00 - $20.00/hr. bonuses available for those with EMT certification and/or fire department training. /p h3Benefits /h3 pIncluding, but not limited to, medical, dental, and vision insurance; generous paid time off plan including 10 holidays, vacation, personal, sick time; 403b with employer match for eligible employees; discounts in the museum store and cafe; free general admission for you and your immediate family members. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 h3Leadership /h3 ul liLead daily shift operations and serve as a member of the department’s frontline leadership team. /li liFoster a professional, positive team environment that supports accountability, communication, and employee success. /li liEnsure compliance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures and public safety protocols. /li liDirect responses to incidents involving the safety of guests, staff, collections, property, and facilities. /li liReview shift documentation for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance before submission to management. /li liPrepare and distribute incident-related documentation, reports, and supporting materials to appropriate departments and leaders. /li liConfirm shift readiness by monitoring attendance, uniforms, equipment issue and return, and post assignments. /li liProvide clear pass-on communication, including operational updates, incidents, and upcoming events. /li liTroubleshoot security and access control issues and support badge access updates while maintaining required records. /li /ul h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liSystems Monitoring: Oversee security systems, HVAC and mechanical alarms, fire systems, and CCTV; perform basic troubleshooting for access control (AMAG), video surveillance (Salient), and art security (Art Sentry). /li liShift Oversight: Maintain accurate shift logs, ensure staffing coverage, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures. /li liProperty Communications: Manage property control documentation and provide timely notifications during emergencies or incidents affecting staff or operations. /li liEmergency Response: Follow established evacuation and safety protocols; identify and address hazardous conditions proactively. /li liPolicy Enforcement: Ensure compliance with Winterthur policies and the Standard Operating Policies of the Winterthur Public Safety Department governing people, vehicles, and property on Winterthur grounds. /li /ul h3JOB REQUIREMENTS /h3 pMinimum Experience: High school diploma or equivalent proof of education with a minimum 3–5 years in public safety, security, or law enforcement, with leadership or supervisory experience. /p pPreferred: 1+ years’ relevant experience in leadership or supervisory role with CPR/AED and First Aid required; additional certifications in emergency management, conflict resolution and leadership development. /p h3Knowledge/Skills /h3 ul liValid driver’s license with no conviction for driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol within 3 years of application. Certified copy is to be provided by applicant upon request. /li liNo convictions for theft or sexually related offenses. /li liThe ability to talk to people in a friendly manner that gets results. /li liA "team" orientation and willingness to collaborate. /li liFlexible work days/hours and ability to work overtime, on occasion with little notice. /li liThis position requires clear thinking during any situation that may arise with a calm and professional demeanor. /li liProficient oral and written communication skills. /li liC.P.R./First Aid certification is preferred. Without prior certification, must be able to pass a written and practical test after attending a training course as designated by Winterthur. /li liBasic computer skills, including word processing, accessing and managing a Winterthur provided e‑mail account, and navigating the internet. /li liAbility to utilize computerized security and office systems, after training. /li /ul h3Essential Functions /h3 ul liMust be able to work within the confines of the Museum or other Collection areas that require tight security and attention to detail. /li liMust enjoy dealing with the public in a Cultural Property setting. /li liMust be capable of performing C.P.R./First Aid after training. /li liMust be able to sit in and operate a patrol vehicle for a minimum 8-hour shift. /li liMust be able to climb multiple stairs (9 floors), walk or stand for extended periods of time (8 hours). /li liMust be able to lift 50+ pounds. /li liMust be able to climb a ladder. /li /ul /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
