Take Responsibility – The Position: Model Builder As Model Builder, you will play a critical hands-on role in the product development process. Based in our Ålesund innovation hub, you will be responsible for the rapid prototyping, model creation, and testing of product concepts and technical solutions.
You will work closely with the engineering and design teams to transform ideas into functional prototypes and tangible models that support fast iteration, creative experimentation, and high-quality development. This is a detail-oriented, solutions-driven position ideal for someone passionate about craft, technology, and bringing great ideas to life.

Key Responsibilities: Own and maintain Stokke’s prototyping lab, including 3D printers, workshop tools, and machinery
Prepare, build, and deliver high-quality prototypes in close collaboration with engineering and design
Improve and iterate models based on functional feedback and design needs
Design and produce physical models for concept testing, demonstrations, and validations
Execute durability and performance tests in line with safety standards and product requirements
Develop tailored testing tools and fixtures to assess reliability and mechanical strength
Documentation & Communication Maintain clear and comprehensive records of all prototype builds, test plans, and test results
Collaborate with project engineers to translate testing outcomes into design improvements
Ensure knowledge is captured for future reuse and regulatory support
Innovation & Problem Solving Continuously improve prototyping processes, tools, and materials to increase efficiency and quality
Identify and resolve technical issues during build and test phases
Stay up to date with new prototyping techniques, digital fabrication methods, and equipment

Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent relevant education and hands-on experience in prototyping and workshop environments
Experience Required: Experience in rapid prototyping and model building for product development
Skilled in machining techniques and industrial workshop practices, including:
Assembly and fabrication
Experience developing test tools, rigs, or equipment for product performance and durability evaluation
Familiarity with prototyping documentation and test reporting
Special Requirements: High level of precision and attention to detail
Practical, solution-oriented mindset with a passion for hands-on problem-solving
Experience working in R&D or cross-functional product development teams
Comfortable operating independently and supporting multiple projects
Fluent in English, both spoken and written
