Lead Prototype Manufacturing Technician
The role involves overseeing the prototype manufacturing lab, specializing in PCBA, cable, and transformer assembly. As the technical lead, you will guide a team of two employees on assembly, troubleshooting, and quality assurance.
You will be responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining production machines used in the prototype manufacturing process. Collaboration with engineers and project managers is essential to meet design specifications and project timelines.
A key aspect of this role is demonstrating a hands-on mentality and willingness to perform tasks such as soldering and assembly as needed to meet deadlines and quality standards. High-quality standards, efficient workflows, and adherence to industry regulations must be ensured.
Overseeing lab resources, including inventory management and equipment maintenance, is crucial to the success of this position. Continuous optimization of processes to improve efficiency and product quality is expected.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the prototype manufacturing lab
* Guide a team of two employees on assembly, troubleshooting, and quality assurance
* Operate, set up, and maintain production machines used in the prototype manufacturing process
* Collaborate with engineers and project managers to meet design specifications and project timelines
* Demonstrate a hands-on mentality and willingness to perform tasks such as soldering and assembly
* Ensure high-quality standards, efficient workflows, and adherence to industry regulations
* Oversee lab resources, including inventory management and equipment maintenance
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in electronics assembly, including PCBA and cable assembly
* Experience in operating and setting up production machines in a prototyping or manufacturing environment
* Experience in a supervisory or team lead role
* Familiarity with Swiss industry standards and compliance requirements
Technical Knowledge:
* Proficiency in operating and maintaining production equipment used for PCBA, cable, and transformer assembly
* Expertise in soldering, reworking, and assembling electronic components
* Strong understanding of IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620)
* Ability to read and interpret schematics, BOMs, and technical drawings
Process Optimization:
* Experience in establishing efficient workflows and optimizing machine setup for prototyping
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles or similar methodologies
Equipment and Resource Management:
* Skill in calibrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining production and lab equipment
* Competence in inventory tracking and ensuring adequate stock of components and tools
Language Skills:
* Proficiency in both spoken and written German and English
Soft Skills:
* Hands-On Mentality: willingness to actively engage in assembly, soldering, and troubleshooting alongside the team
