Your responsibilities
Are you a skilled automation engineer with experience in developing and/or maintaining control systems for large complex devices?
Then seize the opportunity and join the Safety and Operation (SO) section of the ATLAS Detector (ADO) group of the Experimental Physics (EP) department. Within our team, you will contribute to the design, development, construction and commissioning of the Detector Safety System (DSS) for the ATLAS Experiment. Take part!
Your main activities will consist of:
1. Design of the safety matrices for new sub-systems;
2. Consolidating existing interlocks, actuators, and alarms;
3. Decommissioning of the existing control system;
4. Upgrade of safety systems like water leak modules;
5. Participation in regular maintenance of safety systems - Produce technical documentation of test results and procedures.
Your profile
Skills:
6. Experience with safety systems;
7. Experience with testing of hardware sensors;
8. Experience with wiring of control systems;
9. Knowledge of electronics boards development;
10. Ability to follow procedures and remain calm under stressful situations;
11. Software development in python would be an advantage;
12. Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language.

13. You are a national of a .
14. By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electronics Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
15. You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
16. Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
17. Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
Additional Information
Job closing date: 25.09.2025 at 23:59 CEST.
Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
Target start date: 01-October-2025
This position involves:
18. Work in Radiation Areas.
19. Interventions in underground installations.
20. Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organisation.
