High School Maths Teacher (Part-time, 60%)
The High School Maths teacher is responsible for fostering a passion for Mathematics and mathematical thinking among students throughout the High School. The successful candidate will have an inclusive and creative approach to teaching, collaborate with the Mathematics department to develop engaging learning experiences, and demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to supporting students' social and emotional wellbeing, as well as academic growth.
The successful teacher will construct learning experiences that challenge students, support the diverse student body, and demonstrate a strong commitment to inquiry-based learning. All high school teachers are expected to teach IB Theory of Knowledge, supervise the Extended Essay and Personal Project processes, and participate as a Homeroom, PSHE, or Service Project leader. Teachers also support our holistic learning ethos through after‑school clubs, activities, or sports.
Areas of Responsibility
Working with ISZL Students
Teach Mathematics courses in the High School and maintain curriculum documentation.
Demonstrate a commitment to student‑centred, inquiry‑driven pedagogy.
Encourage appreciation of the international and cultural dimensions of mathematics.
Involve students in self‑planning through regular assessment.
Plan and implement significant units of work with continuity and progression.
Use a variety of strategies and resources to cater to diverse learning situations, abilities, and styles.
Offer regular written formative feedback on student progress.
Demonstrate effective classroom management that addresses academic, social, and emotional learning.
Participate in Personal Development Week and the Personal Development Programme (e.g., PSHE, Homeroom, Service).
Contribute to the smooth running of the school through regular duties and familiarity with policies.
Lead by example and partner with students in community engagement locally, nationally, and internationally.
Working with ISZL Colleagues
Collaborate to ensure departmental and school‑wide philosophical alignment.
Collaborate within course teams to review, develop, and refine Maths courses.
Participate in departmental, divisional, and school‑wide meetings as appropriate.
Engage in regular meetings, lesson observations, and professional development opportunities to deepen practice.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to professional learning, reading, and curiosity.
Working with ISZL Parents and External Community
Engage parents as true partners in the learning process.
Keep parents informed and proactive in communication.
Display student work to showcase learning and accomplishments.
Present occasionally at parent evenings.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Hold a degree in a closely related discipline.
Possess a recognized teaching qualification or certification.
