Based in Zurich, Switzerland, our team has strong expertise in the development and production of ultrafast lasers for aerospace, telecom, and metrology markets. For our ambitious business scale-up, we are looking for an Automation Engineer .
Your profile Job Description Your primary duties and responsibilities:
Development and qualification of newly automated assembly solutions for miniature laser systems
Development of automation processes on state-of-the-art photonics assembly machines according to industry standards
Collaborate closely with assembly machine manufacturers and internal R&D and manufacturing departments
Develop precise and repeatable active alignment routines for optical laser components
Create robust and repeatable fixation routines for optical laser components
Develop applications for storing critical data in a database
Build prototypes and complete validation testing
Transfer automatic assembly stations and processes to manufacturing
Additional responsibilities include:
Development of automated test stations (e.g., for factory acceptance tests and laser burn-in)
Maintain and troubleshoot automation robots in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams
Manage projects and related technical activities
Experience & Education Your background:
MSc in engineering, physics, process, or system engineering
2-5 years of experience designing processes with automatic assembly machines, preferably for opto-mechanical assemblies
Programming expertise, mainly in Python
Proficiency in designing reliable industry processes
Knowledge of opto-mechanics, optic integration, alignment, fixation, and packaging is beneficial
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., Telcordia standards) is beneficial
Knowledge in optical metrology and mechanical design is advantageous
Conditions Position is 80% to 100% (34 to 42 hours/week)
Located at our headquarters near Zurich, Switzerland in Dübendorf
Primarily onsite, with willingness and ability to travel internationally
Preferred start date: as soon as possible (June 2025)
